As an aside, I should point out that I don’t normally get quite this excited about women’s fashion, but Stella’s win is more than just an accolade for a talented designer—it’s a message to the fashion world that truly innovative and progressive designers can do just fine without using fur or leather. Stella, who has been a great friend to PETA over the years, has always been outspoken about her desire to keep her designs animal-friendly, and even took the time to narrate an anti-fur video to help us to persuade other designers to follow suit. Congratulations, Stella—and thanks for everything that you do.

Congrats Stella,
I bought a pair of Stella's
non leather shoes and simply love them.
Stella's mama is looking down on her daughter and smiling.

Thanks to advertising by PETA the fur buisness in the UK is increasing and designers have set orders for more fur then last year.Keep up the good work PETA and I might start making a profit trapping this year.

I like Stella, I mean I don't know how people like Donatella Versace or John Galliano can be directing the world and deciding what is and isn't beautiful, I mean - look at them! And then you get the wonderful Stella McCartney who designs beautiful outfits without harming animals. Although I'm not sure if she has a policy on child labour... Either way, she makes beautiful clothes and I hope that one day she may invest in making men's clothes(decent pleather shoes are hard to come by for men)

That's awesome!! I hope that more designers now would take her example and stop the use of fur and such.

Stella, I buy your stuff BECAUSE you support animals.
Maybe other designers will realize what a great marketing scheme it is to support animals, even if they don't have compassion in their hearts.

Mars,
You might start making a profit trapping this year? Sounds like you haven't fared very well in the past. Fur is for has-beens—quit wasting your time with a "dying" business.

Fur is just so ugly - why would anyone think that wearing a dead animal looks attractive? I don't even like faux fur, because it still looks like a dead animal.
Mike Q - good one! I think he is full of wishful thinking though... :)
A co-worker of mine was hiking the other day and saw a trap with what appeared to be the leg of a deer stuck in it (the rest of the animal was nowhere in sight). Just shows that animals other than the "targets" have to suffer as well...
Way to go Stella!

Isn't it wonderful to see a celebrity with a conscience, interested in something other then herself and her own personal gain, and not afraid to shout it from the mountain tops. Stella you are a light, a shining bright light to the world. God Bless you and your pop. Really, Really looking forward to visiting your shop here in NYC.

I watched your video on animal cruelty. The farmer should be have animal cruelty charges filed against him. The push against him should be to stop such practices. Not buying fur isn't the answer. Pushing for more humane ways to farm fur and prosecuting criminals should be the focus. PETA will have to do better than this video to convince the masses of their viewpoint.
