Alecia_Moore.jpgPink got the party started in a big way for the launch of PETA President Ingrid Newkirk’s new book, Let’s Have a Dog Party, with a bash at her Los Angeles home on Saturday afternoon.

The book will ensure that every Fido has his fiesta, every Lassie has her luau, and every Bingo has his bark mitzvah. Step-by-step instructions include ideas for Halloween Howl-a-thons, rolling out the barrel for a Dogtober Fest and Mexican fiestas complete with treat-filled piñatas. Ingrid says "Face it, we say they are spoiled, but most dogs are bored stiff. They don’t want to eat off fancy china and don’t care if we buy them more sweaters than J. Lo. What they need is our undivided attention, love, long romps off the leash, and steamed veggies and peanut butter to replace that dull daily dollop of ‘dog food. Oh, and every dog deserves a party perfectly designed to fit their particular personality and temperament!"

The launch party included more than a dozen dogs (including Pink’s pups) tearing apart piñatas, jumping in the pool, and slurping (nonalcoholic) pink champagne, and in addition to Pink, attendees included Kevin Nealon, Bill Maher, Jorja Fox, Carey Hart, Corey Feldman, John Feldmann, and of course Ingrid Newkirk.

Here are some pics from the evening.

Hi there--looks like fun! Can't wait to fetch your new book!
Thanks.
I blogged about reducing or eliminating animal products in one's meals, as part of Blog Day, today.(The subject was The Environment)
Go PETA, Go Ingrid! Go Bill Maher!

My felicitations to Ingrid Newkirk's new book! Very soon i would like to order it! The party pictures are so cute and amazing! Are they shot by Christopher Ameruoso - because on the Celebrity Dog Watcher they show him also on the party! It's great that he is also on board of the PETA-Ark because he is a great personality and a first-class photographer! I got his fascinating books 'Dogs and their Stars' and 'Dogs and their Celebrities'! Therein you find astonishing pictures of all major celebs and their animals - overwhelming indeed!

Let's not humanize animals.

Let's give them love, walks, and play and NOT party hats and cake!

Awww when I first read this article, I thought about how nice it would've been to be there!
It's so great to see that P!nk is so passionate about animals and especially her dogs! She's such a wonderful lady, with a big heart.
And I'm proud of being her fan!
She's so sweet, and her dogs must be the luckiest dogs on this planet!

Best regards
xoxo

Hey Pink! You're great, such a wonderful person... I'm a singer from Italy (Sicily) working a lot for the animals here. You're so lucky living in USA. I've been there for 2 years and, about animals, I realized that you guys are more sensitive... here a lot of people where fur... and it's not even cold! I hate them. CIAO

Although I respect many of PETA's values regarding animal cruelty, Ms. Newkirk's new book completely undermines the organization's credibilty and raises questions about her priorities.

As noted dog trainer Cesar Millan says, dogs need 3 things: exercise, discipline and affection. He also notes that dogs are not people and do not deserved to be treated as such. Dogs are animals and they certainly don't understand the concept of being thrown a "dog party."

A dog party is purely for the entertainment of those throwing it, which is a direct contradiction of PETA's mission on its homepage - that animals are not for our entertainment.

Ms. Newkirk is likely to be taken much more seriously by the public at large by focusing her attenion on the issues that matter, not feeding cake to spoiled dogs.
