Last month, I talked a bit about PETA's contest asking for submissions in our first-ever "blog ad" contest, and even created my own little ad for The PETA Files, which, sadly, we will not be running on any blogs, as it was—according to my friends Joel and Allie who are in charge of these things—"egomaniacal in the extreme." But we will be running one of the submissions that we did get, and this is your chance to vote for the winner. I've posted a couple of my favorites below, and you can see the rest of the finalists here. Enjoy!

I am certain that the venison my family eats this evening has no detectable amount of animal feces. I know this because I brought it from field to table myself, and since I do colonoscopies every morning, I have a pretty good idea what stool is.

i can not see ANY of the ads on the other page, even though i can see them on your page. where are they???

I'd be more worried about the fruit/vegetables that have had human waste for fertiliser, at least meat is cooked thereby killing the germs.

Yeah, I know there's a little bit of poop in my chicken, but unlike soy chicken, it doesn't taste like it.

I love the "stop eating poop" one! I'd by far pick that one out of those two.

Rojo,
A tofu factory in San Francisco recently had problems with coliform bacteria. There is only one place coliforms come from and thats animal feces. We have had more than one problem with coliforms on vegetables here as well.

lol MD Cochran... i guess it is fitting you do colonoscopies every morning, i would guess you feel comfortable around other assholes all day! birds of a feather, you know.

CODE NAME FOR CHRISTOPHER COCHRAN:THE "SHIT MAN"
They won't let the good DR. work on humans anymore so he's going for the animals.:)

yeah. plants are treated with fertilizers, which can poison. Cooking meat negates the "poop", making it safe. And if PETA wants to deal with the puppy mills, why don't they just buy weapons, storm the mills, kill everyone, and take the puppies home instead wasting funds from retards in making commercials that end up being banned? RETARDED DEE DE DEEs!

"venison...no detectable amounts of animal feces."
I'll go along with no VISUAL detectable amounts of animal feces.
But is it true or not in order to determine the possibility of blood in human feces, doctors do a simple test for occult blood because it is not visibly detectable?
If so, wouldn't it be reasonable to think for the safety of health that a similar test should be conducted for occult feces in venison?

I voted!
I eally like the "blog ad" with the cat.

The chicked period analogy ad is degrading to women. That we should not be eating chicken menstruations is one thing, but arguing that it is gross/dirty/nasty/disgusting as juxtaposed with said image, is completely disrepectful.

"...at least meat is cooked thereby killing germs."
So I guess the frequent recalls of meat due to E.coli were only hoaxes just to fill empty slots on the national news.
"Yeah, I know there is a little bit of poop in my chicken, but unlike soy chicken, it doesn't taste like it."
Hey, if one enjoys eating chicken poop, scoop away! I pooper-scoop my dog's poop, but I discard it. Interested?

Ariel,
To my knowledge, no such test exists. I suppose you could test the meat for coliforms, but I take care in preparing to keep gut flora away from any of the meat.
Judith,
I don't do colonoscopies on animals. I still practice medicine on humans, and that's "Dr. Shit Man" to you.

Thank you Judith and Ariel for being the voice of reason!!!
Rachel, amusing comments!

I fell in love with the love birds.
My grandson fell in love with them also.

I notice that PETA is recently focused on 'responsible' animal breeders and claiming that they are the cuase of shelter animals dying. Additionally, PETA is claiming that resposible pet breeders are doing this while making a big profit. The industry that makes a BIG profit from pets is the pet product retailers. Responsible pet breeders make almost nothing and in my experience end up spending lots more than they make. For most responsible pet breeders the raising of the animals is a hobby, like restoring an expensive car, skiing, or traveling and it is not expected to make a profit. It seems to me that every body who keeps an unspayed or unneutered animal is potentially the cause of over population. Rich or poor, intentional or unintentional. Focusing blame on breeders does not facilitate getting more animals to the clinic for neuter and spay operations. I think a PETA campaign in conjunction with major pet supply retailers to offer free neuter and spay services with bonus incentives like free bags of pet food would do more good to reduce pet population than just calling all breeders evil.

ariel, were they properly cooked? biggest problem is mince and sausages if not cooked through.
Of course if you are worried about poop then I'd suggest you don't keep your toothbrush in the same room as a toilet, the mist from flushing carries some bits.

Chris, apparently one of the hotspots(apart from the obvious) for finding faecal coliforms are in those little lolly(candy?)jars at restaurants where you pay the bill.
Posted by: rojo | October 13, 2007 01:43 AM
Just thoroughly wash your fruits and veggies everyone.

I love "Stop eating poop." It certainly gets the message across!
Dr. Cochran -
Why am I not surprised that you do coloscopies for a living? And no, of course your "venison" (otherwise known as deer)isn't covered in feces, because it's not killed in a commercial slaughterhouse - although I doubt that the deer enjoy your version any better.

Your not a Doctor of Medicine anymore.
Now you can only live that dream .You got lost somewhere. It happens sometimes, drugs, money who knows what happens You can tell by your anger and how you love to come here to bully the woman. It is typical of what has happend to you. But if you would like us to call you Dr. would that settle you down alittle bit?
We will do our best.
Please, try something for you nerves.
Feel Better.

yeah, but E.coli is a bit different. It's a tough bacterium that needs to be dealt with in a different way.

Susannah,
So, your saying your not surprised that a well rounded, well read, thoughtful man like myself dedicates each morning to eradicating the second deadliest cancer in the US. Why thank you.
Excuse me while I enjoy some delicious products of menstruation mixed with tasty home grown sweet bell peppers.

Susannah S, deer don't enjoyed being eaten by wolves, either, but that kind of thing happens everyday. That cruelty you guys complain about is no big deal.
Posted by: Ray-O | October 14, 2007 01:31 PM
Is anybody else here getting concerned with halo snipe's comments that seem to be getting increasingly violent? It's seriously sounding quite scary, with all of his focusing on guns and wanting to "storm" places and blow up things... Remind you guys of any particular (school) situations from the past several years?
