Geezer_Butler_Black_Sabbath.jpgAll you heavy metal fans will probably want to throw devil horns in the air, because long-time vegan and Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler just got in touch with us from the road to let us know how he feels about KFC. Here’s what he had to say about the Colonel’s treatment of our feathered friends: “Life is God’s or natures’ greatest gift. All life should be treated with respect and dignity. I am sure most people would be horrified at the way K.F.C. treats its chickens. People have a choice in what they eat, but those chickens do not have a choice in the way they are treated. If people let K.F.C. know of their concerns, then hopefully the chickens will be treated ethically.”

And for those of you who need a little Sabbath fix to get you through the rest of your day, here you go.

Man, these guys totally rock, and Geezer Butler is just so cool. I saw these guys in about 1984 when Ian Gillan was their lead singer. They were awesome then, but I had no idea that Geezer was vegan! Excellent!

Thanks Geezer for speaking up. Sabbath is beyond heavy, but certainly very melodic. A friend of mine is a bassist and Geezer has been a big influence. Too bad the Colonel isn't a fan (yet).

William, forget about the video. Sabbath created the template for metal (Blue Cheer's Vincebus Eruptum also contributing). Look at the album Paranoid---Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs/Luke's Wall---all iconic songs. Every type of metal band pays homage to Sabbath. And Geezer was there!

A diamond Geezer! Just found out the bass player in one of my favourite bands is Vegan - no wonder he plays some of the coolest band riffs in rock - being vegan helps us connect to the natural world in a way meat-eaters will never understand. And as we know, connnection means inspiration. Don't forget, Einsten was Vegan.
