RIP Tammy Faye

I’m sure you heard the news that Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker) passed away this weekend after a long battle with colon cancer.

Tammy_Faye.jpg

Tammy Faye definitely had it rough, (check out the enjoyable documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye if you’re interested in that part of her life), but she always managed to face the world with two very important things: her trademark chipper attitude and loads of mascara. And it was those two things that led us to get in touch with her back in 2003 to see if she’d be interested in helping with our Caring Consumer campaign. We found out that Tammy Faye loved animals and she was horrified to find out what happens to them in labs, so she jumped at the chance to help.

Tammy Faye clearly got the concept of true Christian compassion, and we’re proud to have had her grace the cover of our cruelty-free shopping guide.

RIP Tammy Faye.

Why are so many loving, good, compassionate, important, influential animal rights and PETA supporters dying so young????!! The world needs these people: Linda McCartney, Anna Nicole Smith and now Tammy Faye??? I'm so sorry for the animals loss of each of these kind souls who helped stop animal abuse throughout their lives. Now in heaven, it's even more crucial for us to continue their animal rights passion. I'm so sad. We miss you dear Linda & Anna Nicole...and now, sweet Tammy Faye....

You even shared your faith on the sereal life reality show you did. I thought that was awesome. How many christains really do share their faith?

Society is unforgiving of any flaw or short comming a person may have. And try to remind the person of it. But let it be said that Tammy loved people, was kind, forgiving, inspiring to people that felt hopeless. She like Jesus, looked on the heart of the person and had compassion!
We will miss youl. See you in heaven.

Tammy Faye did not know me, but she is one of the finest Christian Women I know. I know her through her grandson. For a while her grandson and our grandaughter were good friens and I got reports through them. I know she must be rejoiceing up in Heaven with Our Lord and Saviour. And she is in no more pain. God Bless Tammy Faye and her family.

Ms. Tammy Faye was a remarkable woman and so full of love for life in any form without judgement. She will truly be missed. She was in a way a light from the god she so dearly loved and cherished, that sadly faded out.

I met Tammy Faye at PTL before everything broke loose. I was there with Buck and Dottie Rambo. It was one of PTL's all night sings. All these big name Gospel singers were mingling around. Jim was hobnobbing. I noticed Tammy Faye standing at a small table all alone. No one was talking to her. No one was talking to me either, so I went over to her. I introduced myself and told I was with Buck and Dottie. She was so gracious and nice. We had a little chat. I'll always remember two things about her. Her smile and her strength. Just 65 pounds on Larry Kings show, and still smiling! She's eating that hamburger and french fries, she was graving, now in heaven!

I do miss you Tammy Faye. I still say that you did the right thing by putting heat into a dog house. I know you will have an added touch in the help of animals where you are today. In Heaven you can see to it that all God's little pets are soon truly cared for.
I am deeply saddened, But someday we can walk out pets together in Heaven on real golden streets.

I loved Tammy Faye, she is asleep in Christ. I was so glad to have met her in Nanuet, New York. I've watched her on television most of my life. I reconized Jesus in her life even when others around me was very critical about it. I got saved through the PTL Ministry and I thank God for using them to get me in to His (Jesus) Kingdom. Even though Tammy Faye is asleep in Christ, her spirt lives on and she left a legacy for us to follow (if someone gives you a lemon, make lemonade). I'll never forget that and its a legacy I will follow.

For years I was afraid to fly in a plane but one day on PTL I heard Tammy speaking on the fact that God can watch over us wherever we are and that we shouldn't be afraid to fly. After that I took my first flight and have been flying and loving it ever since. She really helped me and I'm thankful for that. I send my sympathy to her family. I know she's happy and pain free now.

She was a very good person at heart, just lost her way for awhile. It's finding it back in the end that counts, though. I cried when she died, was saddened to know that she claimed PTL did nothing wrong (WRONG!), and I will miss her. She is in a BETTER PLACE! Rest in peace, Tammy

Miss Tammy, you will be missed. I do not believe as her (religion), but her love and compassion to all, humans and animals is a trait all should adopt.

This was so evident in the reality (lol) show, the surreal life. She never looked at anyone as beneath her. She was a loving spirit to all and her ever present laughter still rings in my ears.

At the end, she still showed grace and an unshakable sense of courage.

Rest in Peace. You may be gone, but will never be forgotten!

Tammy was a wonderful person and she has done mant wonderful things thru out her life not only for humans, but for animals alike!! Yes...because we are human, we are selfish and therefore will miss Tammy Faye. However, she is with her Lord and Savior and she is happy and where in my opinion, we all want to be someday when our duty is done. Let us celebrate the life of Tammy Faye and that she is giving in Heaven as she gave here.

I really appreciate the fact that Tammy Faye was so kind to animals, and, she demonstrated a side of "christian" behavior not commonly seen today: tolerance towards gay people. RIP Tammy. I'm glad you're not in pain anymore.

I'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER MY DAYS AT THE GARDEN OF EDEN (AS I REFERRED TO PTL). THO I LOST SEVERAL LIFETIMES, I KNEW THE MONEY WAS A GIFT TO THE LORD, NOT TO JIM AND TAMMY. THE FALSE INFO WRITTEN ABOUT THEM SADDENED ME TERRIBLY. TAMMY AND I WERE BOTH BORN ON MARCH 7 - OUR HUSBANDS WERE BOTH BORN IN JAN. AND WE WERE ALL MARRIED IN APRIL. SEVERAL YEARS, WHILE THERE, I WAS REMEMBERED WITH A CORSAGE AND EVEN GIVEN THE BRIDAL SUITE ONE YEAR, since our yearly visit was to celebrate our anniversary. (this year would have been 58 years.) WE CONTINUED OUR YEARLY TIME WITH THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WE MET AT TIMESHARE, WITH WHOM I AM BLESSED TO STILL be IN TOUCH BY PHONE, E-MAIL OR LETTER. MY GREATEST YEARS WERE SPENT AT PTL AND ALWAYS DID AND ALWAYS WILL BE GRATEFUL FOR THE 22 YEARS I ENJOYED THE WONDERS THERE. MY HUSBAND IS NOW IN HEAVEN WITH TAMMY. SHE HAD THE HEART OF GOD. JIM, TOO. I WAS AT PTL WHEN TAMMY SUE WAS 17 AND SAW HER BEAU PIN HER IN FRONT OF THE WATERPARK. MAY GOD BLESS JAMIE CHARLES AND TAMMY SUE AND ROE FOREVER AND MAY THE HOLY SPIRIT WALK WITH THEM THRU THEIR GRIEF. CANNOT EXPRESS ALL I WOULD DESIRE TO SHARE ABOUT THAT WONDERFUL FAMILY.
HOW THEY LIVED THRU THAT TERRIBLE NIGHTMARE - AND CAME OUT LIKE ROYALTY, WHICH THEY ARE - ALL SPECTACULAR TO LIVE THRU WHAT THE MEDIA DID TO THEM. THEY ARE TRUE CHRISTIANS THRU AND THRU.
I THANK GOD FOR KNOWING THE BAKKERS. WHAT TERRIFIC MODELS THEY ALL ARE TO THE WORLD. LOVINGLY IN JESUS, FROM DEEP WITHIN MY HEART

Scared and alone in 1983. I supported the PTL club and felt good about what I could contribute, no matter how small. I thought Tammy was ONLY singing to ME.... she told me NOT to give up, because GOD is not thru with me.....She was the FIRST person in my life at that time to reinforce my importance with the Most High, and also to myself. My daughter is now a college graduate, and I have waited far too long to express my graditute. My deepest heartfelt sorrow for Tammy and Jamie. Your mom touched my heart at such a young age, and still to this day at age 42. ALL MY LOVE TO TAMMY FAYE AND HER CHILDREN

I don't understand how everyone can think of a person like that who bilked millions out of good people. She and her ex do not fit the definition of true Christians.

It's been almost 6 monthes since Tammy Fayes' passing. It's hard to believe that fast the time flew by.
I'm still struck by the fact that she is one of the most Christian women in our life time. More people should take her example: loving, caring, non-judgemental, and forgiving. Her Faith in our Lord is a shining example of what we should have.

Lost contact with your ministry some time ago, but I heard you were sick, so I pray for you because during your PTL days you always pray for my needs and family' needs. I always remember your beautiful blue eyes, smile but most of all that beautiful voice. I know you are singing with angels and all your former singing guests from PTL days, can't wait to get there to hear your voice again, now with the heavenly choir. My husband went to bible school and was a soldier in the passion play at PTL, we are lifetime partners. You have probably already met him in heaven because he went home on June 8, 2007. It won't be long, we'll all be going home. That beautiful reunion in the portals of glory. Welcome to your new abode, no one deserve it more than you. Your days of pains and trials are now over and I do declare that there is mascara in heaven, because Our God created it for gracious ladies like us. Good thing is that it will no longer run down our face, because everything is perfect there. My sincere sympathy to your family and like I told my husband Victor, see when I see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You were design by Our Lord and Saviour and I was so blessed by that design!!!!!!!Rest in peace my dear friend!

What a dear lady. She will be greatly missed. I had the opportunity to meet her several years ago. Even though she was surrounded by hundreds of people, she acted as if I was the only person in the world. I will never forget her.

I hope you can now truly rest in peace... in the arms of the God you loved so much!

I didn't even know you were dead. Loved your positive attitude and sparkling eyes. You were truly at one with God. And yourself. Like they say, only the good die young. You died way before your time. rip

Tammy Faye was a very GOOD EXAMPLE of what a christian
should be,
She was always sincere and I would have loved to have her
as a friend.
So HAPPY THAT ONE DAY i WILL
meet her in heaven
if only more of us christians could be more like her, what a wonderful world this would be.
Another 'LIGHT" gone out of the world!
Love you Tammy, and good-bye
for now.
