Taiwan Bans Animal Circuses

Just a quick bit of good news for you to start off your Tuesday: According to last week’s Taipei Times, a new amendment to Taiwan’s Wildlife Conservation Law means that animal circuses are on the way out in Taiwan. When interviewed about the progressive new law, legislator Tien Chiu-Chin said, "Circuses do not need animals to be fun and successful. … Most important, by exposing our children to wild animals through circus acts, we are setting an incorrect example of how humans should interact with animals." 'Nuff said, Tien Chiu-Chin. Here's hoping the U.S. wakes up and follows Taiwan's example. You can read the full story here.

it's great that they ban circuses and it would be even greater if they would ban dog and cat slaughter!

I must admit, I have been so disapointed in the past years
when people I have trusted such as Senators and the powers that be have said one thing and have turned around
and have done the complete
opposite of what they have promised, just like in Texas,
they are now trying to keep
the horse slaughtering once again because they feel that
if and when this passes that this ban will lead to targeting
other meat industries.
You bet it will. I would gladly give my life for bringing a stop to the slaughtering of all animals.
To me this would be such a small request.
I am so sorry to get off the subject.
This is a wonderful beginning
for the elephants.
I hope and pray that they will follow through with what they have said.

I can't wait until the States dump animal circuses in favor of shows that are more closer to Cirque du Soleil's latest show, "Love." I'll take The Beatles over malnourished, beaten animals any day. Is there really an opposing argument?

Circuses are so stupid theres nothing entertaining about abusing and torturing animals. anyway, yay for Taiwan!!! I hope the U.S decides to take the same action against this cruel shit.
