A few days ago, Eva Longoria (of Desperate Housewives fame) was heckled in London—where she was launching the Harrods' Winter Sale—for her nasty habit of draping herself in dead animals. For people who do care about animals, Eva's track-record has been pretty abysmal. In an interview last year, she told Oprah that she can "skin a deer and a pig and a snake - and rabbits," when she was talking about some of the things she learned in her childhood. Sounds like a hell of an education—and it may explain her crappy attitude towards people who try to educate her about the cruelty she's supporting by wearing fur. The New York Post reported the story as follows:
EVA Longoria drew anti-fur hecklers in London the other day when she kicked off Harrods' Winter Sale. The "Desperate Housewives" star, dubbed "Worst Dressed" by PETA for wearing "dead-animal pelts," was nearly drowned out as she gave interviews. A PETA rep says he hopes Longoria will see the light like another "Worst Dressed" winner, Christina Ricci, who e-mailed the group: "I never meant to hurt nor anger anyone with my insensitivity . . . [I] will not be wearing fur in the future."
I have to admit that Desperate Housewives is a kind of a good show, but it's always sad when you find out that the villains in TV shows are villains in real life too. Hopefully this experience will give her something to think about.

Eva L. is certainly a snotty little cow. Wonder if she would like to be leather?? Sorry real cows of the world. Just a euphemism! I would imagine she is just as nice to little kids too! What a shame!

sharlene and fur wearer(or coward)
how bout you skin your own? After that let me know how it was.
Its easy to buy soft fur, it sucks to see your fur still alive. If you are that heartless, then I pray for you and yours.

Animal rights activists are always accused of shoving their beliefs down other people's throats. That's ludicrous. Eva Longoria shoving her belief that animals can be skinned alive for her dispicable vanity is the a million times worse....it doesn't just stop at being annoying and preachy; it results in the horrific treatment of a terrified animal that breathes and feels.

Some people are so ingnorant it sickens me to part of the human race. Ignorence is bliss for some. But those who have a conscience, and choose to learn the truth are the ones whom are truely enlightened. Non of these hollywood prissies would wear fur if they had to kill and skin these poor creatures themselves.

She just seems so backwards. Unappealing.
I think her celebrity will have a very short shelf life.
All the fur wearers seem to have careers that are going down the tubes!!

In response to a comment made by fur wearer.....
I agree with you that Fur is down to choice and it's part of a person freedom to decide what he/she wants to wear, however if certain injustices are happening in the fur-trade, I feel it is justifable to enlighten people that are ignorant of the it.
While I hate fur, I can't stop those who wish to wear it. All anyone can do is educate people, from then on it's people's choice if they still wish to wear fur. However if people still wish to wear fur they have to understand they a supporting a industry that is known for sadistic/tortureous methods on animals, animals by all counts have as much right to live as we do.
I see fur as unnecessary, unless you depend on it and live in the remote parts of the world.
To all those that wear Fur, fur will never look cool on anyone, except it's true owners - animals.

EVA thinks shes all that when she isnt.may she burn in hell just like jlo, beyonce, spears, hilton, ashley olsen & all the other fur wearing scum incl beyonces tramp mother.

Paris Hilton has changed since Heather McCartney showed her footage of fur farms. Last night Eva Langoria was wearing a fur coat on Desperate Housewives. If the directors of this show allowed her to wear real fur then we should stop watching this show.

A boycott of the show is a great idea but you must tell them why or they will just think it has losts it's popularity.

HOW COME PETA FEELS SO GOOD ABOUT IT SELF WHEN A CELEBRITY BACKS OFF WEARING WHAT EVER SHE WANTS TO WEAR BECAUSE SHE'S AFRAID OF YOUR BACKLASH AND HARASSEMENT. SHE IS NOT DENYING HER OWN FREEDOM OF CHOICE FOR THE ANIMALS, THIS IS FROM HER FEAR FROM THE PETAPHILE'S OF THE WORLD.

It never ceases to amaze me that people are still wearing fur and they honestly don't see it as a problem....
Posted by: the-guslet | January 8, 2007 11:19 PM
For shame -- Eva, watch ONE video in regard to how the fur you're wearing was collected.
If you continue to support wearing it then please don't you ever dare to speak out about ANY acts of cruelty, poverty, suffering, or the like as any and all of your credibility will be lost. Supporting such unimaginable torture is nothing to be taken so lightly as your vanity.

YUCK!!!
I hare this woman!!! No compassion & inner beauty at all!!!
God save the man who's gonna fall in love with this inhumane woman !

Eva may have been brought up in the outback where she dealt in such ways with animals, HOWEVER, fur animals are completly different. They do not roam free and have life enrichment as do wild animals who are hunted, although I don't like hunting, it is better than being raised in filthy cages alone in your own excrement, and then being cruely killed and often skinned alive. Vey different Eva. It's just about a little compassion and ethics

Steve - Peta feels good about stopping airheads wearing corpses because it saves millions of lives. However i do not expect narrow minded people to understand the logic.
I thought Eva was stunning untill i saw a picture of her without her slap. She looks like a weasel. Seeing as she fakes her glam so much, she should consider faking the fur.

Here it is-the NEW millenium and we're still living like cave men and women. It's a shame that in America, we look up to celebrities like they are royalty when the REAL heroes are those who are doing REALLY good, decent and important work like trying to find a cure for AIDS, Cancer and the like. It's time for us to wake up and realize that animals are not for wearing-they are our friends and we should NEVER forget that!

OK OK so I guess I didn't explain myself. I HATE FUR. And I really cannot stand when a celeb that is supposed to be an example ( that is because unfortunately they do have a lot of pull with us common folk) wear something so harmful. SARAH you may have to go to reading class. Read my entry again. And I tell you I'm the one you hear about with the red spray can. No coward no Fur. Don't even understand what it is you were trying to say. I'm one of the few who has big enough B#LLS to confront fur wearers. I have had the police called on me for my beliefs so shut the hell up Sarah. Anyway anyone seen the teen queens Mary Kate and ashley donning themselves in fur teaching our very impressionable preteens??? RING THE ALARMS!!!!!!!!!!

Fur is definately for those who have not evolved to a higher state of consciousness. They have not realized that what they do to another species they do to themselves. This is not just for fur wearers, it also goes for those that eat meat and dairy. Many shake there fists and growl at fur wearers, then go and dine on animals. It seems a bit contradictory to conume meat or dairy and condem a fur wearer.
My wife and I are vegans, and have been for about ten years. It wasn't until we took that step, that we could actually say we now have a true basis and understanding for the plight of animals. We can now approach people from our hearts and be sincere, because we live the walk not just preach it.
Sincerely,
Dave Anderson

Dave, you comments are much appreciated, however it is the condescending tone in which people are scared of. You have to take your tone down. Even if someone eats meat and condemns fur farms, you cannot call them contradictory. In fact that might chase them away from the fight against fur. So Dave in the future try not to sound so rude. After all, it is a worth while time to have people slowly change their minds. When people hate fur, they look into things. Such as Peta. I am not vegan but I do not eat at kfc or drink Pepsi because they are all the same company. Slowly but surly the movement is going to become cruelty free. Patients, not everyone is willing to turn vegan in a day. So please ease up on the preach, it is counterproductive. Thanks Dave.

I don't care if it's intimadation or pressure from fans ruining the careers of so called celebs - they should stop wearing dead animals now. Anyone wearing fur is just as murderous as those that commit the actual crimes agains nature. I despise anyone who supports the tourture of anmals, which is what these scum are doing by wearing fur.

Insulting some one you don't know based on their fashion choice is NOT an effective way to handle it. If she chooses to wear fur, than that is her decision. By saying "I hate this woman!!! No compassion & inner beauty at all!!!" or by calling her a "cow" or by saying "EVA thinks shes all that when she isnt.may she burn in hell just like jlo, beyonce, spears, hilton, ashley olsen & all the other fur wearing scum incl beyonces tramp mother." will not make people listen to you. It'll just piss them off.
Telling people that they will burn in hell, or calling someone's mother a tramp just makes them defensive. Your degrading and holier-than-thou attitude is why you are more unsucessful than you should be. You can't insult people to make them change. It just makes you look ignorant.

FUR IS HORRIBLE.
I don't see how ANYONE could LIVE to know that they are wearing what once used to be a living, beautiful creature. Animals' lives were taken, wasted, and stolen for a useless, stupid, coat/jacket, or trim! It just confuses my deeply on how people can know that and STILL WEAR FUR. IT'S REDICULOUS.
By the way, to SHARLENE and any other fur wearers, if you have raccoon fur... guess what? You could be wearing SOMEONE'S DOG. Yup. That's right. Raccoon is a type of DOG native to Asia & Europe. MAJORITY (as in like... 80%) of the fur industry in the U.S. gets their products shipped from China & Europe to here. In China they skin animals ALIVE. If you want proof, please visit this website: http://www.furisdead.com/feat/ChineseFurFarms/
Or you can watch a video: http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/Prefs.asp?video=fur_farm
WE SHOULD LOVE ANIMALS.
NOT WEAR THEM.
When ripping the fur off these dogs, they are not only 'wild' dogs. But dogs that were once someone's beloved companions. (They skin cats as well!) So, if you did have a dog (or have one now), and you lived in China, any fur worker could steal your dog away from you without you having any say, and they'd skin your dog leaving its bloody body to waste, then using its fur/pelt to make into a coat... then shipping it here. To the U.S. FOR US TO WEAR!
I'm sure you would NOT appreciate that.
So to you (& fur wearers) I'm completely appalled that you would EVER be able to live knowing that you are wearing dead animals on your back who could have very well been someone's best friend.

Obviously, YOU have the will to kill.

EVIL FANGORIA!!!! (Eva Longoria) She sounds like a sinister, blood thirsty vampiress!!! BEWARE!!!
Posted by: Buzz | March 1, 2007 02:52 AM
Those of you who wear fur and say 'so be it' not only have no right to but are worthless cowards. If you are willing to pay someone else do the dirty work and slay an innocent animal for the sake of your jacket, you are a coward. You wouldn't wear your dogs coat at the sake of his or her life yet they would suffer no less than a mink or fox etc. If you do it because you can than you are a weak person for exploiting your position in the animal kingdom. God have mercy on your soul.

Guys,
Here's an idea: Why don't we all write to ABC and say we'll boycott Desperate Housewives until Eva Longoria stops wearing fur in public!!!???
Join the effort!

I'm doing a debate on that we should ban the sale of fur. I am on the negative team saying that we should not ban fur. I don't know Eva whats-her-name. But I do know that we have rights, and one of those rights is to chose to wear fur. We all have freedom of speech and taste in clothing.
Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you have to force your opions down their throat.
I admire people who stand up for what they believe in, but bad-mouthing someone's personality just because they wear fur is injust. That may not be the case here, and I apoligise if I have the situation wrong.
Also, the methods for killing animals to make coats, hats, scarves, etc. has greatly improved. We have become far more humane in our approch.
Lastly, like I said, I don't know Eva but it might be in her culture/upbringing to wear fur. I don't see any protestors launching themselves at the aborignals for wearing fur back 4,000 years ago. So why now? I also think it was cruel to judge Eva as the worst dresser just because of her taste in fur. She actually looked quite nice. And before you jump down my throat, I don't wear fur, but that's my choice. You can't judge Eva until you look at what your wearing or eating. Most shoes are made from leather, there goes a cow. That chicken roll you had for lunch, there goes a chicken. I'm shocked at the attack on Eva and I don't think she deserved it.
And any protesters who disagree with me, than I am sorry but that is my opinion on the matter. And I think it would be nice to leave poor Eva alone.
I agree with pcb
