Christina Aguilera's Costume Change

So we just heard from Christina Aguilera that she has replaced the fox-fur stole she wears on stage with a faux-fur version after receiving a letter from PETA. Apparently, she had specifically asked her tour's costume designer, Roberto Cavalli, to only use fake fur, but in a press release to Women’s Wear Daily, Cavalli bragged that he had sent her a stole made from real, dead white foxes.
It may be that Roberto Cavalli was still sulking after PETA members disrupted his Milan fashion show this fall and decided to take it out on some foxes, but we're very grateful to Christina for doing the right thing from the start: After PETA VP Dan Mathews emailed Aguilera the Cavalli item and a link to Stella McCartney’s video exposé showing how foxes are anally electrocuted for their fur, he got an immediate response saying that Christina is “very upset” because she “only ever wears fake fur.” The fox stole has already been replaced with a faux-fur version, and the tour is continuing in Europe 100 percent fox-free. Thank you, Christina!

That is such great news. I hope Christina will lead the way with her message of compassion to other singers...Beyonce perhaps?

I am very happy to see that Christina is showing that she has a heart by wearing faux fur. It is a terrible shame that other celebrities like J.Lo and Beyonce continue wearing animal fur , when they know exactly what those precious animals have to go through. So much cruelty towards animals for something so ridiculous. Bless all the animals souls who suffer and die at the hands of people in the fur industry.

About time somebody like Christina did the right thing - She could make a public commentary stating she wears ONLY fake furs!

Christina Aguilera is f.ing liar who's passing the buck to Roberto Cavalli.
Remember VMA 1999. Christina Aguilera is pathetic!
http://www.christinamultimedia.com/newssource/index.php...04-11&articleID=6979
"Christina Aguilera bought a little fur shrug from the store to wear at the MTV awards recently; young women see celebrities like her wearing real fur and they go out and want to buy the same thing. Our store is now often packed with people browsing and buying."
Posted by: Julie | December 14, 2006 08:41 PM
it's so good to hear christina is doing the right and humane thing. she is such a role model! i wish other big name celebs would do the same. they just have to remember their roots, who they were and how their lives were like before they hit it big and how they didn't need animal skin to make them cool or keep them warm. take a walk back to your ol' block j-lo ... maybe you will then realise what you didn't need then is what you still don't need now. peace all!

Christina's the type of artist the stands for various issues. Whether it be promoting AIDS awareness, self-acceptance/ self-love as well as opposing cruelty to animals, domestic violence, civil rights violations, hate crimes, etc.
She's someone who, not only has opinions about the world around her, but actively supports those causes through her career.
If only America's Sweetheart and daily obsession, Beyonce, would do the same. The only campaigns she supports are boosting her album sales, radio play and overall spotlight.

Aguilera is a pathetic liar.

People.com (People magazine's online counterpart) recently posted a Juicy Couture hooded sweatshirt lined with real rabbit fur worn by Christina Aguilera as one of this season's "must-haves."

THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD WHO HAVE A VOICE...FOR ALL THE ANIMALS WHO DON'T. PLEASE DON'T WARE FUR IT DOES NOT MAKE YOU IT WILL ONLY HURT YOU IN THE END. IF IT DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT. IT MUST NOT BE RIGHT.

Cheers to Christina!
Posted by: Gazala | December 16, 2006 06:02 AM
Didn't PETA reccently have an action out against her for wearing a fur lined hoodie? I think she is lying...did she ever answer for that?

Thanks Xtina!!

Posted by: kc | December 19, 2006 02:21 PM
yeah christina is an effing liar. she was on the cover on allure a few months ago wearing a FOX stole, and she wears juicy couture rabbit fur hoodies. she needs to go fur free 100%.

Posted by: Leo | December 24, 2006 06:07 PM
i think you are all getting mixed up with Christina Ricci, she was the one who done a fashion shoot wearing a fur trimed coat, and the fur christina wore to the vma was obviously fake, it the light you could see the plastic look,
Posted by: louie | December 24, 2006 06:28 PM
even if it did get cold in Florida, what a horrific thing to do. i saw someone with a fur coat on t.v. and it is as if people that wear fur are trying to look like animals. CREEPY.
thanks Christina.

I am going to her concert, now i'm even more excited that she's gone fur-free. If only other celebs would do that. I lurv Pamela Anderson. =]
Posted by: Taylor | December 29, 2006 03:48 PM
i've been a christina aguilera fan since the 3rd grade and still love her music. I think it's awesome that she's made the choice to be cruelty free!
Posted by: katie | December 31, 2006 01:43 AM
Good for Christina. If I was her though, I would try and sue Roberto. He could of given her a bad name for one, but most importantly, went against her personal morals. It would be like giving a Jewish person pork but telling them its turkey.
Posted by: Djin | December 31, 2006 09:12 AM
That is a huge relief! I love christina and was terrified to see pictures of her wearing fur. But to know that she has gone off fur is not only a huge relief for me, but if the foxes knew what was going on i suppose they would be relieved aswell!
love jess
Posted by: Jessica | December 31, 2006 07:58 PM
if someone as huge as christina can admit her guilt. then all those other superstars should follow suit!!
congrats mrs.aguilera!!!
thank you!

It is sooooo wrong and sick how they torture animals just for thier damn coats!! It makes me so angry how cruel some people can be!! It needs to be outlawed! Go Christina! (and whomever else who doesn't support the slaughtering of animals) :)

Christina Aguilera is now wanting to work with Procter and Gamble the company known for animal testing. Either she's one pathetic liar or just plain stupid.
(Procter & Gamble Prestige Products has inked a deal to create Christina Aguilera fragrances.
Terms of the partnership with the singer were not disclosed.
“I love trying new things in my music and in fashion,†said Aguilera in a statement. “To have a perfume of my own is the beginning of an exciting adventure. P&G is the ideal partner for this new experience.â€
P&G beauty brands include Joy by Jean Patou, Rochas, Escada, Hugo Boss and Lacoste, among other)

yay but seriously can she live up to it i mean what if she is just saying to get nore fans or people to like her more and think shes a better person than before !

Christina must be in the dark about P&G's dark practices as she doesn't seem the type to support such suffering..
I came across her new international licensing agreement with P&G the other night and am very troubled by this news as a love Christina and her music.

Bonjour,
Je n'ai pas tout compris mais bon je félicite Christina d'avoir abandoné l'usage de la vraie fourrure. Je ne supporte pas ces personnes qui se donne un style avec la peau d'animaux. Et j'aime tellement tous ces animaux !!!

Yes, she wore real rabbit fur. Christina is a fake and a liar!
Posted by: Nikki | January 30, 2007 03:04 PM
I am so proud of christina for doing this. I don't think its right for animals to have their fur taken aay from them. They need it more then we do. I gape at people who I see buying real fur when I'm shopping. People need to understand that the taking of animals fur, would be like shaving all of our hair off of our heads. I hope that many other celebrities will follow in the steps of Christina and I just wanna say how proud I am of the PETA Advocates for standing up at fashions shows for saying what they believe in.
Posted by: Marley | January 31, 2007 10:25 AM
I'm a huge huge fan of Christina's and I know she never wears fur I went to see that show and I never would of thought she was wearing fur! It's just Cavalli being a complet prat!
Well done Christina!
Posted by: Penny Ireson | January 31, 2007 02:02 PM
GREAT!! CRISTINA ROCKS !!
That´s what a really smart and sensitive person can do!
Fur wearers are stupid and selfish people and not elegant at all!!! oh my gos they look so cheap!!!!
Posted by: Carolina | January 31, 2007 10:23 PM
WELL...I DON'T CHRISTINA AT ALL BUT ITS GOOD SHE IS DOING SOUMTETHING FOR A CHANGE...BUT PINK IS WAY BETTER THEN HER!!
Posted by: chris | February 7, 2007 04:03 PM
I FEEL THAT CHRISTANA IS DOING A GREAT JOB BUT I DO REMEMBER IN THE VMA'S SHE WAS WEARING SOME FUR CLOTHING !!! AND PLEASE I DONT BELIEVE THEIR B.S ABOUT THEY DIDNT KNOW TILL PETA SENDS THEM A EMAIL.... SO F*** ROBERTO CAVALLI AND F*** CHRISTANA !!!!
Posted by: Jennifer From Chicago | February 7, 2007 05:47 PM
i love christina!!! ;)
Posted by: le | February 10, 2007 05:34 AM
go christina! and no, christina does not wear real fur, so stop hatin'! atleast she made the right choice! would you rather her not supporting PETA? i think all fur wearing celebrities should follow her.
Posted by: Lyka aka another huge fan! | February 11, 2007 07:06 AM
Well it's a good job she's stopped wearing fur (well done PETA) but as mentioned,I don't believe she was unaware of it and she certainly doesn't deserve praise for not participating in the bloody industry which is blatently inhumane. How difficult is it?
Either way,I've no respect for her now because she also glamorises animal circuses in one of her music videos.
Posted by: miss v | February 11, 2007 09:28 AM
Christina Aguilera is my favorite female artist and this just makes me feel so even more. Fur farms and the use of fur in clothing is such a horrible trade. It makes me very glad that someone well known is making good decisions.
Posted by: Micole | February 11, 2007 10:51 PM
YEY! I love Christina, now maybe we can tackle Beyonce! Christina is an inspiration! And one of my fav. singers!
Posted by: Hamelon | February 12, 2007 02:00 PM
that was a very awsome thing to do im glad cristina finally quit waering fur
Posted by: jowi | February 14, 2007 11:22 AM
I don't see why some people are calling her a pathetic liar. She didn't say that she has never worn fur but that she NOW only wears fake fur. So what if she knowingly wore fur before, at least she's making a conscious decision not to wear it anymore. Yeah maybe some people might think that what she's doing now is nothing to commend her for but she's doing her part, just as much as the people who are commenting on here are. So good for her for making the right decision.
Posted by: rai | February 15, 2007 05:56 PM
its good to hear that even a larger than life star such as christina can still be compassionate and caring!
Thank you Christina!!
Posted by: dia | February 17, 2007 06:15 PM
I'm sure she's probably still wearing real fur...just telling the public that it's fake. And more power to her! Who cares about animals anyways? What has a fox ever done for you? And whoever made the ridiculous comment about "bless the souls" of all those animals...get real! I'm sure all of their "souls" will be just fine without your worrying about them.

Any fur, fake or real, still advocates that fur is "glamorous" and "stylish" and "fashionable". How about no stole at all, eh, Xtina?
Posted by: Nina | February 23, 2007 07:18 AM
harvesting fur is no different than growing food to eat and if some poor dude out in the middle of nowhere can make some money by selling some fur good for him better that than shooting a deer at the wrong time of year
Posted by: greg davis | February 24, 2007 06:42 PM
Stop killing the animals please stop this
Posted by: Edel | February 25, 2007 04:21 PM
Christina is due here soon! Coats made of cat & dog fur have been in the media recently. Words can't bring Xtina down, but perhaps her words will bring the fur industry down!

i personally love her new, red-lipstick style, sans-fur. <3

I think she wore that rabbit lined hoodie AFTER this "victory" was posted.
I really wish someone would clear this up and get the stories sorted out cause I hate to see her getting credit if she just went back on her word like a lot of these celbs do.

Posted by: Lilly | March 7, 2007 04:29 PM
I don't even wear fake fur because I don't want to be mistaken of wearing fur like Christina things like this make you look like a hypocrite to me if you are a true animal lover you wouldn't show any signs of wearing fake fur, fake leather, fake animal skin, etc.. like the saying goes "I'd rather be naked than wear fur"
I HOPE Christina influenced other people to not wear fur
