So we had this big Thanksgiving dinner in L.A. yesterday evening, and, as so often happens with fancy PETA events that involve celebrities, I wasn't invited. The dinner was hosted by CSI star Jorja Fox at a PETA member's house, and among the guests were Alicia Silverstone, Casey Affleck, James Cromwell, Kevin Nealon, Emily Deschanel, Diane Warren, and The Simpsons producer Sam Simon. The guest of honor at the feast was a turkey named Tom, who got along famously with Alicia Silverstone and sat on Jorja Fox's lap (much as I would likely have done if anyone had thought to send me an invite). Check out the video of the event, with plenty of pics after the jump. The best part is Kevin Nealon talking about his "Thanksgiving wad." Pure genius.

Oh yeah, and this is what they ate. It doesn't sound too bad at all:
Plated 4 course dinner:
- Crispy Chive "Cheese" with Baby Arugula, Fuji Apples and Roasted Beets
- Creamy Pumpkin Soup with Cinnamon Spiced Croutons and Crispy Sage
- Stuffed Vegan Turkey Cutlet with Cranberry Dressing, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy and Green Beans
- Poached Pear and Chestnut Cream Tart

I think its great that people like Jorja and Alicia are using their popularity to help educate people around the world of needless abuse suffered by animals. Good for you guys!!

This is so Great! I wish that in Wisconsin we had events like this! We need to educate people more on how to have an animal free Thanksgiving!

Great story! Jorja ROCKS! Vegetarians save lives everyday!

I, too, would have liked to sit on Jorja's lap. But, if we both were there, I would have let you sit there and I would have asked Emily if I could sit on hers.

Awesome, I think this is great that they are showing people there are others ways to eat besides killing helpless animals.

It just makes me feel so happy to know that there are people in the world like this! I wish more people were like this.

Great to see that there are others who choose not to eat innocent precious animals.
So often I feel so alone in how I feel about animals and the cruelty they receive from people who murder them and eat them.I thank-you for your warm heart and so do the amimals.

Why this ridulculous mass killing of turkeys, Its so sad that happens here in America.. Sometimes I feel this country is so ignorant its about togetherness,.
Posted by: peta | November 16, 2006 01:31 PM
All I have to add is my heartfelt agreement with everything that's been said. I wish more people would understand that meat is cruel and entirely unnecessary. All communities should be able to experience an event like this.

This is what Thanksgiving is all about. PETA should send this video clip over to ET, Access Hollywood, Extra, and the Insider, not to mention local news channels!

Thanks to all the celebs who did NOT eat a live turkey. This will be my first tofurky Thanksgiving and I am looking forward to a great dinner without one animal suffering because of it. Thanks to all who help save animals, our best friends. I am proud to be associated with such a compassionate bunch of people.

What a great comment and "T" shirt from PINK; I am no longer a BeYonce fan. She is beautiful enough (outside) not to wear dead furs. I am a vegetarian and although will be sitting w/my family thru their dead bird, I will be making and eating the vegetables. Thanks PINK.. from another Philly girl! Gigi

All you Meat eaters should really look into yourself and put urself as the Turkey.
We are herbvours not carnivours. For Mahaveers Sake stop killing animals. A soul is a soul, you cant differentiate between a dogs soul and a Human Soul.
Remember we all have to go thru the diff forms for lives and we will all be chickens, dogs, cows etc one day and be slaughtered

I see my posts must be approved by the blog owner. Well blog owner you can chew on a turkey leg for all I care. I doubt you'll be posting my posts. You censor the truth I speak? That's wack.
"All God's creatures fresh off the grill, So come on down to Mr. Meaty's where friends meet to eat MEAT!"

Erm, they're only animals, chill out guys.

"We are herbvours not carnivours"
Actually we are naturally omnivores.

I think this is fantastic :) I just told my omnivore husband about all these famous people who choose not to eat animals. He's kindly and quietly supportive & that's all I can ask of him!

Being a vegetarian is one more step towards making the best out of life. If you settle for meat then you know you are a weak human being unable to make a simple change.

i love CSI and Sara Sidle is my favorite character. she is so cool and i think it 100% sucks that they are kicking her off the show! and this last episode, the season finale, broke my heart and seeing Sara under that car made me tear up and almost cry. i won't want to watch CSI if Sara leaves anymore. and i think it is so cool that Jorja is helping animals out and all. the world needs heeling and Jorja's actions are just the right cure. and Jorja, if you are reading this, YOU ARE SO COOL AND YOUR ACTIONS WITH HELPING ANIMALS IS VERY INSPERATIONAL. I AM A FAN AND NEVER FORGET IT!!! :-)
