It's that time of year again, when it starts to get a little bit colder and you can spot a select few of Hollywood's trashiest celebrities strutting around with dead animals strapped to their backs. At PETA, we have far too much tact to name any of these people personally, but we would like to send a general message to all celebrities to please just think hard and search your conscience before you consider buying fur. OK, just kidding, we have a list. Here it is:

PETA's Official 2006 'Worst Dressed' List:

  1. Nicole Richie: This pelt-wearing party girl is all animal skin and bones. She’s an incredible shrinking woman with the heart to match.
  2. Ashley Olsen: Wearing fur does add 20 pounds, but if Ashley wants to fill out her frame, we suggest using a fork instead.
  3. Christina Ricci: Disregarding the holiday season’s “Peace on Earth” message, Ricci recently posed for a magazine cover wearing fur from slaughtered reindeer. At least she’s not into fur hats: Imagine how many more pelts it would take to cover that forehead.
  4. Eva Longoria: You’d think she’d be more sympathetic to the plight of rabbits considering the way she screws around like one on Wisteria Lane.

You can vote for the number-one worst-dressed celebrity here. Notable absences from the list are Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, both of whom have made some attempts to ditch the fur from their wardrobes this year—so here's hoping they remember their resolution.

In the meantime, here's Nicole and Ashley!

And finally, in case the pictures of Nicole Richie and Ashley Olson looking like they just got finished robbing graves at a pet cemetery aren't enough to convince you not to wear fur, check this out:

Comments

I support PETA's longtime fight for the humane treatment of animals. And while i don't particularly like celebrities, i thought the PETA comments on the Worst Dressed List were in poor taste. Mocking young women that may have eating disorders and negative body images is cruel. Humans are animals, too.

Posted by: SARAH | November 28, 2006 03:26 PM

I don't think it's right to get a point across by making fun of people. Yeah, it's wrong to support the killing of animals for vanity, but it's also wrong to take cheap shots at someone's eating disorder. I think this "Worst Dressed List" shows PETA in an immature light and doesn't adress the real issue of what PETA stands for.

Posted by: Laura | November 28, 2006 10:26 PM

Wow. So it's all right to make personal attacks against someone and insult them behind their back?

Nice to see PETA taking the high road. Honestly, guys. Try and be role models.

Posted by: Mara | November 28, 2006 10:42 PM

I had to cry when I saw this,
how is it possible that this CAN happen?
I wish I could torture these people like they torture these animals...

Posted by: Nele | November 29, 2006 07:57 AM

This is why I became a vegetarian, and am slowly going vegan. How can someone do that to a living creature ~ with a beating heart? All I can think about is the fear going through those poor animals. This is not how God wanted us to care for his creations.

Posted by: Victoria | November 29, 2006 10:38 AM

There's a old saying
"To find God in all life is to find God in yourself"

However, it seems the people in the video only found the devil.

Posted by: Paul | November 29, 2006 11:16 AM

This is macabre. I can't believe you people would actually put this video up on your site. Obviously, the people who visit this site know the horrors of animal cruelty. Why on earth beat it into our heads by such shock-value methods? I am disgusted by the video, but even more disgusted by your lack of couth.

Posted by: g3kogur1 | November 29, 2006 01:24 PM

That is the worst thing I have ever seen! I had to stop watching it!! How can someone do that? Makes me cry!

Posted by: Paris | November 29, 2006 01:29 PM

If you're going to do this to animals... show some respect. That was just rude and inconsiderate. I couldn't imagine being in that racoon's possition!

Posted by: Daleo | November 29, 2006 01:36 PM

all you vegetarians are just jealous that some people can look thin and still eat meat

Posted by: shayquan | November 29, 2006 01:53 PM

Anybody who wears fur has got to be out of their minds. I just hope the people who are guilty for torturing these poor animals get tortured the same way! Karma!!!

Posted by: Sandra | November 29, 2006 03:16 PM

they are far more cruelty and atrocities going on in the world right now. why not start by helping people then the animals

Posted by: Conscience | November 29, 2006 03:29 PM

This is the saddest video I have ever seen. I don't own any fur and never will. If the stars want to eat animals it's fine with me, but why would you want to wear an animal's skin??????

It's sad to think of all the poor defenseless animals dying in such horrible ways to keep their bodies warm, when they can just buy a nice wool coat that will keep them just as warm.

Don't these stars live in LA???? What do they need a fur coat for anyway????

Posted by: maggie malhado | November 29, 2006 03:43 PM

How in the hell do these sick people get away with doing things like that they need to be stopped or skined what ever is easier what goes around comes around

Posted by: maliacoco | November 29, 2006 03:55 PM

I agree that they should not skin these animals alive. It is horrible to watch. Why couldn't they just shoot them in the head instead?

Posted by: dan linders | November 29, 2006 04:01 PM

I understand how most of you feel, as far as the sheer brutal images on this video. But wearing fur has been around since we have been on this Earth.
Please do not think that I'm saying it's OK, it has become a "fashion statement". But I think God put animals on this earth for humans not the other way around......

Posted by: HANK | November 29, 2006 04:32 PM

Wow, I've seen fur videos before from the US that were bad, but this is truly awful. I can't believe that it takes that much effort to put an animal out of misery before you skin it. I couldn't watch all of this video. As to the previous poster who said "God put animals on this earth for humans," exactly whose god is that? My God did not put humans on earth to create suffering for other creatures. If you believe we are better than all animals, than use your position for stewardship of the earth, not desecration. All of God's creations are sacred, not humans alone.

Posted by: Laura | November 29, 2006 04:46 PM

Absolutely no offence to anyone, I don't like people wearing dead animals either...BUT, you guys would think if it was cruelty to animals which is against the law that officials would ban it all together????

Posted by: Michelle | November 29, 2006 04:50 PM

yeah yeah i feel bad for the animals and all but there was definetly no reason to mock anyone. you need to stay out of other peoples business and mind your own. if people want to wear fur or eat meat, they are not bad people so stop treating them like they are and get a life you freaks! eating meat is the circle of life people! if we just let the animals stay alive and keep having babies then the world would get overpopulated and it would be chaos. so chill out PETA and lay off.

Posted by: vanessa | November 29, 2006 08:03 PM

Don't get me wrong I am 110% against fur, but two seconds into the video I had to stop. When I saw the poor racoons little face beaten, it was just to much for me.
I disagree with many of the first commenters, these stars are wearing fur and need to be brought down a peg. Magazines comment when they any thing else hidious, PETA just covers the fur. I too believe in krama and just can't understand why the people who made the fur and wear it (knowing what we do today about fur) aren't treated as the animals are (I won't go detail). Let's pray that day is coming.
P.S- Why wasn't J.Lo & Beyonce on the list?=/

Posted by: monica | November 29, 2006 08:29 PM

While I am against wearing fur and don't like it when other people sport fur, I think PETA should be ashamed of itself for personally attacking these women. Speak out against their choice to wear fur, not what goes on in their personal lives. I think very highly of PETA and support its cause, but this time you guys took it too far.

Posted by: Ashley | November 29, 2006 08:32 PM

I didn't watch the video, I've seen too many and know exactly what goes on. But I do understand why Peta has to resort to "shocking" people into realisation. A lot of times, people don't know or understand how horrific the methods are that are used.
As for the celebrities who wear fur, it's shameful. They should follow Martha Stewart's example and give it up.

Posted by: Soleil | November 29, 2006 10:01 PM

I can't even watch more than 10 seconds of this video. It's completely incomprehensible that this actually has been going on. Within 10 seconds, my spirit was considerably bruised and a piece of my innocence was lost. All this being said, having knowledge of extreme cases such as these (I hope this is an extreme case and not normal circumstances...) helps to build on my firm belief that cruelty to animals is completely unethical, unnatural, and unnecessary and must be stopped.

Posted by: Savannah | November 29, 2006 10:45 PM

Its pathetic how this celebrities buy fur without knowing the pain that the animals go trough.
the worst thing is that the killing of baby seals its about to begin in Canada.
and it would be another SAD SITE.
these people should pay the SAME WAY
Odilon Jr

Posted by: junior | November 29, 2006 11:40 PM

That really is a low to snark about eating disorders. Obviously these women do have psychological problems. It's wrong to wear fur, but PETA's attitude about eating disorders shows ignorance and poor taste.

Posted by: ekleinee | November 30, 2006 12:42 AM

I think these people should of been exposed. How can anyone watch what actually happens to the animals they wear and still wear them. That is not a fashion statement - that is pure ignorance. These stars should set an example for others. And Beyonce and JoLo should be on the list.

Posted by: Charmagne Dulaney | November 30, 2006 01:02 AM

This probably wont get posted on your site because of the extremist nature of your organization, but this is what I have to say anyway. First off, there is nothing wrong with a woman wearing fur. It's your right to bitch and complain about it, but it's their right to wear fur. If I bought my girlfriend a fur coat and one of you nutcases wrecked it I'd have your ass thrown in jail. Second, while I do not codone the nature of the video you posted, I feel you misrepresented the fur industry. Anybody with an ounce of commen sense would realize that what was shown in the video was the act of a few people who like to watch animals suffer. As a hunter, I have great respect for the animals I hunt. I know the majority of trappers also have a great deal of respect for the animals they trap. You need to realize that there is a food chain and, we as humans, are at the top. Hunting is necessary because without it, the animals would die far crueler deaths from overpopulation and the diseases that stem from it. So in conclussion,1. wearing fur is not wrong,2. you're a bunch of crazy radicals, and 3. and maybe the most important thing I have to say, Nicole Richie and Ashley Olson hot.

Posted by: clay | November 30, 2006 01:12 AM

please know that it would be very important that peta celebrities talk to these fur wearing celebs in order to make up their minds; to blame them in public is not good but talks between stars would show a better result. please consider that many of fur wearing stars are still very young; also chinese stars are wearing much fur but are not at all conscious about what they do; pls visit the site: asianfanatics and you shall see that even if these celebs ow and love animals they are not educated about fur. so celebs like jackie chan, jet li and other animal loving chinese actors should talk to them personally!!!
this horrible crime against animals must stop as quickly as possible; it's also against human dignity!!! what kind of a species are we to do such crimes to other living beings???

Posted by: claudia marrapodi | November 30, 2006 03:28 AM

"I understand how most of you feel, as far as the sheer brutal images on this video. But wearing fur has been around since we have been on this Earth.

Black were used as slaves, we used to live in caves & use horse & cart as transport. When people used fur they would have killed the wild animal for it's meat (& not factory farmed them!). Animals are not ours to use, anymore than any people of a different colour of skin/religion or child is there to be exploited by ANYBODY. Get the point?!

Posted by: M Smith | November 30, 2006 10:25 AM

I think the point is being missed here. I would like to say that the use of fur has been around since the early stages of man go back to the times of Neanderthals and cavemen, However killing and the wearing of fur was done for their survival not for sport/fashion. Man is no longer dependant on fur, I think that anyone that kills in the name of sport/fashion are showing their true IGNORANCE!!

Organisations like PETA, shows there is some humanity in this Mad World.

Posted by: Paul | November 30, 2006 12:59 PM

That video is disturbing, how are things like this being allowed?...why isn't it regulated, i've never nor will I ever wear fur its gross, would we walk around wearing human skin, to try to make a fashion statement?? that poor raccoon. It is sickening to me that someone with a pulse, or beating heart can do somthing that cruel to another living creature. I've also seen the Documentary Dealing Dogs, it was almost to much to stomach, thiers a huge problem with animal cruelty and i feel like its just getting worse. People need a big eye opener. You guys at PETA do a fantastic job. Keep up the good work!

Posted by: Kara | November 30, 2006 01:21 PM

I see no problem with a few personal attacks on these celebs. What's worse.. a few WORDS or being mercessly slaugtered so people can make coats out of you.
Whenever I see someone wearing fur, I shoot them the DIRTEST look I can, I think it's disgusting and the epitome of TACKY.

Posted by: Ashleigh C | November 30, 2006 01:26 PM

I could not stop crying while watching this video..it containted the most disturbing image i had ever seen.

Posted by: Susan | November 30, 2006 02:41 PM

I think PETA's comments on these celebrities is amusing. If a celebrity has a eating disorder they need to seek help for it. And wearing a murdered animals clothing will not help them gain weight. These celebrities KNOW they have anorexic issues, they choose to not seek help and continue to flaunt there disgustingly skeletal figures. I think a little "picking" from PETA is nothing compared to what these women do to themselves.

Posted by: Katrina | November 30, 2006 03:11 PM

I could not believe this video, I never thought wearing fur was that big of a deal until now. I had no idea that animals were treated this way, is it a reason that they keep them alive while they do this? I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight much less see how these horrible people sleep at all. I don't see how they don't get arrested for animal cruelty. I wish I had never watched it to tell you the truth, my heart breaks.

Posted by: Tanya | November 30, 2006 08:15 PM

how anyone can justify wearing real fur after watching this just aint human!

Posted by: zoe | November 30, 2006 09:35 PM

I totally agree that Peta should show as many of these videos as possible to all and sundry. These so call stars would have all seen what happens to these animals to produce these fur coats that they are wearing. I'm so tired of people sticking their heads in the sand and ignoring the cruelty that humans inflict on everything around them.

As for those people that say that animals should be kill because of over population then when do we start on humans. Humans are taking over every inch of the environment and changing every eco system on this earth. For thousands of years animals have controlled their own populations, it's only since man has taken their habitats that there has ever been a population problem as the few animals that are left are all squashed in to small areas and everything nowadays is classed as a pest. This isn't for survival this is so we can entertain ourselves and don't get me started on these so called animal loving hunters/trappers yeah right!!

Posted by: Sonia | November 30, 2006 09:52 PM

I think what they do to animals is HORRIBLE, but i don't think its right for you (Peta) to make fun of people like you are, saying Christina Ricci has a big forehead and that it would take too much skin to cover it is just nasty and I don't think nicole richie's weight is relivant to the killing of animals, I however STRONGLY agree with the concern of PETA, but pointing out certain celeb's issues is not a right thing to do, and how come Beyonce isnt on there? She is the one who is actually designing a fur based brand, and same with J.Lo, that video is sick and cruel and i hope all those men have to suffer through 4 times as pain, they are worthless to the world and have no decent character inside of them.

Posted by: Helen | December 1, 2006 12:28 AM

why would you not kill an animal before skinning it...even more importantly why would you let its skinned ,bleeding, suffering body still live?

people disgust me

Posted by: sarah | December 1, 2006 12:36 AM

I had heard about how torturous obtaining fur was but i never believed it. I am in the fashion industry and thought that fur was just another material for making fashionable clothing. I am very happy that you put this video onto your website. It brought me to tears and I am still crying but it showed me cruel fur is. I want to show this to everyone I know and hope that they will no longer use animal products. I know I wont, there are plenty of real looking synthetics that will not require torturing God's creatures. Make this available to more people and maybe they can be enlightened like I was.

Posted by: Jessica Duran | December 1, 2006 02:04 AM

I don't see what the big deal is about fur coats. I know lots of people who eat meat and wear leather but act like fur coats are terribly immoral. There is only one difference -- fur coats are luxurious and extremely bourgeois. Anyway, animals are legal objects and do not possess any rights as individuals, such as the right to live.

Posted by: Timothy Donner | December 1, 2006 02:26 AM

awwwwwww, eva :(
the comments were so rude...and yet so funny lol. i think the point is that u don't get on PETAs worst dressed list to be flattered. tabloids r worse.
people who wear fur make me really sad :( and so do people who think that if the law claims that animals don't have any rights, they must not. since when has legality=morality? think for yourself.

Posted by: loulou | December 1, 2006 09:54 AM

Wake up people stop gloryfying people who don;t give a rats ass about killling and torturing animals like
People who are hypocrites and want to own a pet and care for it. How bout if we take your pet and skin it alive to turn a profit.Disgusting money whores you know the infamous two clothing skanks Iam talking about.
no respect not humane

Posted by: adriana | December 1, 2006 10:38 AM

i respect what peta does, and do not wear fur. however, i think peta loses credibility when you make fun of celebrities. let the facts and your work speak for itself.

Posted by: tia | December 1, 2006 07:52 PM

ANYONE who wears fur is a shameless sinful and souless WRETCH! That video was incomprehensible...how can you do that to them while they're alive??? I don't advocate death, but anyone who supports the fur industry needs to be SKINNED ALIVE, and even that wouldn't be enough. And as for the comments about the celebrities, go right ahead, humiliate and degrade them, those revolting fiends apparently support the fur industry so i HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR THEM!!!!
PETA you've just found another strong supporter.

Posted by: Juan | December 1, 2006 08:40 PM

wow! I HAD NO IDEA! That is why you need shock tactics! God forbid we call some spoiled celebrities names when these poor helpless animals are being tortured! Some of these comments by people condoning this is just sickening, like who gave humans this right to torture animals?! They don't feel pain?! And those of you saying this is a small part, should really look at this:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=chinese+fur+trade
Cats and dogs, same torture and thier fur being sold as rabbit fur!!! I'm so sick, I can't stop crying!

Posted by: Maria | December 1, 2006 08:44 PM

okay WHY are there a bazillion comments on here, not defending animals, or even adressing the issue of AR, fur, ect. but...talking about how we make fun of celebrities? Hello, if you're dumb and selfish enough to wear fur, you DESERVE to get made fun of. For gods sake people, it isn't like you know Ashley Olson or any of the others personally! If you don't want to see celebrities made fun of, I suggest you don't turn on the TV or pick up a tabloid magasine either. We aren't the first people to say something about how sickly skinny some of these girls are getting.

Posted by: serinity | December 1, 2006 11:10 PM

i love ashley olsen and nicole richie's style but today i was very dissapointed in them. And yah peta was a lil harsh with the comments but it doesnt matter what it says. cause its really not about the celeb... think bigger picture. how can people be so concerned about "their" feelings when animals are being skinned alive and left to writher helplessly with all but there muscles showing? priorities people. who cares about the peta comments. watch that damn video. its heartbreaking.

Posted by: crystal | December 1, 2006 11:25 PM

This is the most horrible thing I have ever seen. I couldn't even watch past 13 seconds. I've read about this kind of stuff and seen other videos, but this was too much.
Doing this to animals is so wrong that I can't even put it into words. Then PETA's 2006 Worst Dressed List!se people who torture them....how can they go home and sleep and night? Evil, evil people.
I value the life of an animal far more than a human being because animals are so innocent & helpless; they have no clue why they are suffering through this torture. They don't have a voice to speak out about this. I thoroughly hate people who can torture poor, innocent animals and they deserve much worse than I can even think of.

Posted by: Lindsay Martinez | December 2, 2006 02:46 AM

boo hoo hoo, you whiney people need to stop complaining. THINK ABOUT THE POOR ANIMALS WHO CAN'T SPEAK. nicole richie already said she doesn't have an eating disorder.. she's 'under stress' and ashley olsen doesn't have an eating disorder either.

anyone who wears fur deserves to die the same way the animal did, there is no EXCUSE for fur in this day in age. i saw the chinese fur trade video for the first time a little over a year ago. i became anti-fur and more into animals rights more than ever. i had a pancho ( i purchased it before i knew anything about the fur trade, FYI ) with a little bit of rabbit fur on it, and i donated it to PETA right away.

so people, go fake for the animal's sake.. and remember karma will get you if you don't.

Posted by: Katherine | December 2, 2006 04:01 AM

That was the most horrifying thing I have seen! But what's worse than that video are people who actually wear the fur.. if they didn't wear it.. the things that happened in the video wouldn't be happening. The girls on the worst dressed list and anyone else who wears fur is disgusting. How can they wear it knowing all the cruel things that happen for that one article of clothing?? They are cold hearted, self centered, materialistic, undeserving people with a very screwed up morals!

Posted by: Christine | December 2, 2006 04:22 AM

I can't Believe that they would do something the Cruel and Awful to Animals. Just So they can Sell the Fur off the animal for Profit Its Disgusting. And The People in The Video are Actually Laughing as they Skin the Animals. What kind've human would enjoy this and laugh about this needs help. I have seen some disturbing stuff but this tops everything I've seen. And it sheds some light.

Best of Luck to PETA "maybe one day people will stop abusing animals, But For now we must fight to protect them"

Posted by: Gerardo Mendez | December 2, 2006 10:56 AM

How about 'People for the ethical treatment of ‘PEOPLE'....ok...PETA yeah, you look out for animals and everything, but you still suck when it comes to treating PEOPLE in an ethical manner.. HOW LAUGHABLE is it that you love things that dont give a crap about you MORE than you love HUMAN BEINGS. Some people don’t know any better...their mothers wore fur...so they do..BUT the way to inform people is NOT to throw blood on them in public..OR jack them in a fake contest/interview like you did with Beyonce …. OR demeaning them in a 'worst dress list'. ITS OK TO DEMEAN PEOPLE.. BUT NOT ANIMALS.??? YOU DONT GET RESPECT FROM PEOPLE WITH YOUR APPROACH.... I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THIS ORGANIZATION BECAUSE YOU HAVE A GUERILLA-LIKE APPROACH THAT IS BARBARIC AND UNCIVILIZED...REALLY MATURE GUYS REALLY MATURE... GROW UP....STOP POURING BLOOD ON PEOPLE AND DEGRADING THEM JUST BECAUSE THEY DONT SEE YOUR POINT OF VIEW.

Posted by: JoJo | December 2, 2006 11:50 PM

just i would like to ask jojo:
pls inform us about your charity for human beings - which kind of organizations do you support or manage or is your primitive comment just another excuse for being a good christian!?

Posted by: rosario | December 3, 2006 02:53 PM

There are millions of charities for humans. Ironically it is humans that generally cause the suffering of humans as well as animals. It is humans that give organisations like Peta the reason to exist.

Why is it that all these wonderful people like Jojo who has no doubt taken in orphan starving children or donates most of their wages to charities for humans and doesn't use any chemicals as these chemicals are slowly poisoning the world which they are no doubt trying to save for future generations of humans, why is it that they are so put out by people who try to do the same for animals that are only suffering because of these so called caring humans.

Why can't there be people looking out for the animals as well as humans. Why am I constantly told to support charities for humans instead of animals. I don't use chemicals, I recycle everything, I try to produce as little pollution I can in my daily life. If I wanted to have children then I would adopt one that needed a home rather than just adding blindly to the population that is suffocating the world to the point that it won't exist.
The animals are the innocent victims of human greed so why shouldn't someone stand up for them?

Posted by: Sonia | December 3, 2006 08:37 PM

Jojo, did you watch the video, do you think that it is showing animals being demeaned? How can the two be compared??

Posted by: Frank | December 3, 2006 09:21 PM

right on jojo

Posted by: clay | December 3, 2006 11:18 PM

I love PETA and I am an avid fan, but the comments made about the women on the list sounded like comments from an asinine teenager. If you want to prove your point, try facts and figures, not shock-value videos and immature comments about women.

Posted by: Keer | December 4, 2006 05:50 AM

This comment is to everyone who thinks that wearing fur to make a fashion statement it alright but, mainly to jessica duran the idiot that left a comment a few spaces up. I dont know what exactly it says about animals in our laws but it shouldnt matter what they say when it comes to skinning animals and wearing there fur as a fashion statement or whatever you want to call it. It is not our god given right to murder animals and where there fur for fashion. In this day and age there is no need for this once so ever. Now back in the old days thats what people did to stay warm was kill an animal and wear its fur i have no problem with that they did what they had to do to survive and they also ate the animals they killed also to survive. When you murder animals for there fur not to survive but so you can look good and just throw away what remains of the animal then you need to think about what it would be like to be in that animals position. It doesn't matter what our laws say about what you can and cannot do you all know what is right and what is wrong. Now I don't know God personally but i seriously doubt this is what he wants for his creations. It is beyond me how any one can do this to animals and live with themselves weither they are doing it like the pieces of shit in that video or in a so called more humain way that they might do in a major fur making company. Jessica that was one of the most evil and unhuman things i have ever heard you cannot have soul after posting something like that. Its sad someone can be so ruthless when it comes to the murder of innocent creatures. Nothing good can come from murdering these animals and i can only prey that the sick and twisted pieces of shit that do this come to there senses and realize that the profit they make from this is not really worth it and stop the murdering.
p.s. Please excuse any gammar mistakes i may have made its not like i murder an innocent animal or something.

I cried when I saw this video these people do not have a heart , I am a animal lover and I wont not be able to do this .... :( . I just would love for one of them to fell the pain those poor scared animals are going thru .

Posted by: Liz | December 4, 2006 02:49 PM

this is to CLAY who said wearing fur is not wrong. i am gonna be very rude and inconsiderate right now just like you were when you said wearing fur is not wrong.....you are probably some hick who lives in the middle of nowhere who actually has to kill animals for food and clothing....get a car and drive to a store you freak....why would you go hunting? people who actually kill a living thing for the fun of it are mentally disturbed and should be put away...i dont know if you know anything about serial killers but the majority of cases start with the sickos abusing and killing animals.....its one thing for people to eat meat but its another thing to torture beat and brutally kill an animal for pleasure or fashion. youre a jerkoff...and that was being nice....and really who cares if peta makes fun of celebrities who have eating disorders they deserve a lot worse for wearing animal corpses...boo hooo

Posted by: jamie litzner | December 4, 2006 07:23 PM

Andrew I think you are referring to Timothy Donner post, the names are underneath the post.

Posted by: B. | December 4, 2006 08:20 PM

I have no problem with the comments made by PETA in relation to the "worst dressed" list. Honestly, these women are wearing the skins of animals obtained in the most barbaric manner, and we are supposed to be sensitive about THEIR feelings? Please.

The whole point is that fur-wearers are selfish, self-absorbed, socially-irresponsible and unfeeling idiots. I think PETA could actually have made the point a LOT stronger.

Celebrities don't respond to subtle social commentary or earnest entreaties not to wear fur. They only respond to IMAGE and public opinion. Ridicule is THE BEST way of being heard.

Beyonce, for example, turned a deaf ear to PETA's (extremely polite) attempts to reason with her use of fur in her "fashion" line. But I guarantee you if PETA ran a campaign suggesting that fur only makes Beyonce's ass look bigger - all of a sudden they would be getting a reaction!

I have to say, though, I thought PETA's list was on the politically-correct side this year. Where was Beyonce, JLo, Lil' Kim etc??? Don't tell me that Christina Ricci is more of a fur hag than Beyonce!?

Black were used as slaves, we used to live in caves & use horse & cart as transport. When people used fur they would have killed the wild animal for it's meat (& not factory farmed them!). Animals are not ours to use, anymore than any people of a different colour of skin/religion or child is there to be exploited by ANYBODY. Get the point?!

J. Smith
Are you saying that black people are animals? I'm suprised people like you can sit there with a straight face and compare animals to people as if they were on the same level. Animals are not people! They do not have emotions. What you think are emotions coming from your pet are actually instinctive behavior patterns that have been bred into that particular domesticated animal. Animals do what they know to survive. If that means being friendly to humans to get a food reward, that is what they will do. Do you understand what I'm saying? Animals do not have emotions, they don't have souls, therefore they cannot be comared--it's like trying to compare apples and oranges. Although I don't agree with torturing animals, I also do not beleive it is anyone's place to tell someone else they shouldn't be doing it. I am a hunter and as a hunter I strongly beleive in preserving habitat for wild animals. As a matter of fact, hunters spend more than any other group preserving wildlife. But there is a difference between wild and domesticated animals. Domesticated animals are raised strictly for human use and consumption. There is nothing wrong with this. This is how the world turns. Animals eat other animals. Does that make them guilty of cruelty to animals? Have you seen some of the methods certain animals use to kill other animals. Snakes either suffocate their prey or inject them with venom until they slowly die. I think if peta members spent an extended amount of time out in the wild in a situation where they had to find a way to survive, their views would change dramatically. They would better understand the natural balance of life and death. And from this, they would have a greater apprecitation of nature. Because a tree hugger can never understand nature, until they understand this aspect of it.

I have never seen anything as horrible as this film. I don't know how far they went with that poor animal alive, because I could only watch the first few seconds.
May God see fit to do to them what they have done to these poor animals.
I hope you have more videos like this on your site, I'd like to show them to everyone who.
As for myself, My father hunted to help provide food, and raised a bull for food also. I KNEW this bull, played with it, petted it and named it. I was 7 years old when he had it butchered and for me it was like eating the family dog! I haven't eaten meat since.(over 40 years)

Posted by: Colleen M Callahan | December 5, 2006 01:55 PM

The reason they skin these animals alive is to preserve the fur in its natural state. If they kill the animals first, the fur will get limp due to no blood circulation, which by the way this video is unbearable to watch.

Yeah wearing fur is wrong but its horrible how you put people out like this and make fun of them. Many other people wear fur-how about taking a shot at them?

When in God's name are you peta windbags going to get a life. God did not put man on this earth to serve and worship animails. God put animals on this earth to feed and cloth man. Stop worshiping IDOLS and get a life.

When some proud son of man returns to earth,

Unknown to glory, but upheld by birth,

The sculptor's art exhausts the pomp of woe,

And storied urns record who rest below:

When all is done, upon the tomb is seen,

Not what he was, but what he should have been:

But the poor dog, in life the firmest friend,

The first to welcome, foremost to defend,

Whose honest heart is still his master's own,

Who labours, fights, lives, breathes for him alone,

Unhonour'd falls, unnoticed all his worth,

Denied in heaven the soul he held on earth:

While man, vain insect! hopes to be forgiven,

And claims himself a sole exclusive heaven.

Oh man! thou feeble tenant of an hour,

Debased by slavery, or corrupt by power,

Who knows thee well must quit thee with disgust,

Degraded mass of animated dust!

Thy love is lust, thy friendship all a cheat,

Thy smiles hypocrisy, thy words deceit!

By nature vile, ennobled but by name,

Each kindred brute might bid thee blush for shame.

Ye! who perchance behold this simple urn,

Pass on --- it honours none you wish to mourn:

To mark a friend's remains these stones arise;

I never knew but one, --- and here he lies.

"God did not put man on this earth to serve and worship animails. God put animals on this earth to feed and cloth man"

See, now there's a problem there. Who said "God" did anything? I'm freakin sick of this argument. Not EVERYONE believes in the bible, what about the people who beleive in different gods? or no god at all? Me, i'm eclectic, meaning I basically beleive in whatever religion i'm feeling at the time. I do beleive in God and Jesus, just not every word of the bible, so saying "god put animals here for us to eat" doesn't hold any relevence for me. Sorry, but you can't go through arguments by throwing in the God card all the time.

i'm glad peta is getting the message across, i cannot believe people are ranting on about stupid nicole richie's eating disorder, who cares, she is an idiot seeking more fame, unfortunenately these poor animals do not have a second chance at life, nicole needs to rot in hell and she's fat

Posted by: julie | December 6, 2006 12:49 AM

i cant help but notice all these ridiculous comments on this site. im glad this video is on here to spread the word of what actually happens to animals that get skinned for fur. i think its disgusting people would actually consider wearing a living beings fur. people need to understand what life is like for these tortured animals. i wish i could save everyone of these suffering animals.

Posted by: quena | December 6, 2006 01:10 AM

Its alright to love animals and for you to discourage that people do not wear fur and become more sensitive to the rights of animals, because it is important, but I think it is pretty sick that just because Nicole Richie is wearing fur someone would post the comment that they hope she burns in hell and that she is fat... come on people if you care more about the life of some over populated animal over a persons life then you have serious issues

Posted by: Ryan | December 6, 2006 12:21 PM

folks, there is something important i want to tell you:
it is really sad to live all the tragedy of animal abuse and distruction life on this page: there are really backminded, neandertalic, mean spirits at work, taking excuse in two things
1. the barbaric world of the past (caused by humans)
2. the so called 'word of god'
just let me explain the following: people making this kind of statements do not have any ethic background nor wisdom or knowledge. they loose great part of time with nonsense, then they open the peta web site just for to insult them in the ugliest way. they don't understand anything from the animal kingdom.
to tomcat i would like to add:
you didn't even get the sense of the statement: blacks were used as slaves.... this statement refers to alice walker, the great african american writer, poet, human and animal rights activist and means that animals are not ours to use, aswell as black people are not made for white people to be used nor women for men to be abused. it has nothing to do with racism or comparison of humans to animals; please study the meaning of a statement before you use it wrongly!
second it is not true that animals react just instinctively. since 50 years i share my life with dogs, cats and horses and it is absolutely ridiculous to pretend that they are just nice to get food; it's the contrary: my cat refuses to eat if first i don't caress her; and my dog is absolutely free to chose his behaviour and lifestyle but i get bonus: he barks for to call me when the telephone rings or when the baker arrives in the car. in winter he barks already when the car enters the village because he knows that first i have to put my boots. there is also another same car but he knows the motor and makes a difference. he just understands that these things are important to me and he does this favor! (sic!)
animals also have their own language and i learned about 40 words in cat language (i talk to them in cat language) and 25 words in dog language. my collie is very intelligent: for example he knows exactly which pair of shoes are for to go out, or into the garden, the stable or the house. once i was busy and he took the shoe for the garden and put it in front of my room. so he wanted to show me that it is time to care about him. once i had a deaf dog and i just talked to him by movements of my hands and it worked perfectly. with the horses i work on a spiritual basis. i have a mare who was very dangerous because of bad treatment. i was the only person to approach and to ride her. she is just adorable and has a big sense of humor!
so, please educate yourself sharing your life with these adorable creatures and do not judge the animal kingdom out of ignorance!
animals also have to make their way in evolution and not to be systematically deteriorated by human beings!
third i address to fd kunz:
it is not god who gave animals to people. i heard this talking in churches before and it is dangerous. the same people feel free to tell us that tsunamis and illnesses are god's punishment. but the human being has megalomania and it would be reasonable to understand that nature is just for itself and has nothing to do with any 'god'. this does not mean that there is no god; there is an absolute truth but the human doesn't have it and we should finally be reasonable enough to recognize this. human is not superior to anything, we do not even know what's in the universe! the biggest ignorance of human is to accuse the non humans of ignorance and it shall be the fall of mankind!!! (sic!)

Posted by: claudia | December 6, 2006 01:45 PM

I AGREE 100% WITH THE STATEMENT THAT THERES NO NEED TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES FLAWS....yah i dont support eating meat or wearing fur but to poke fun about somthing so serious is stupid...its like one of them coming back and saying somthing about why animals should be killed for fur...come on PETA....have more...pride

This video absolutely broke my heart. How can humans be so evil? I am speechless...

Posted by: Kendra | December 6, 2006 06:24 PM

For several decades now PETA has been at the forefront of the fight against cruelty to animals. It's a bit disheartening to see how they - like much of the rest of America's institutions - have been seduced by the shallowness of celebrity in order to get attention.

Several posts have articulated the ironic insensitivity of mocking the physical appearance and perceived eating disorders of the young women on this list while trying to project an image that is overly-sensitive to the plight of animals.

What this worst dressed list accomplishes is creating yet another distraction based on the very temporary appeal of very temporal actresses.

While I'm no fan of the fur industry, it's quite a leap to go from depicting racoons being beaten to death to the red carpet. It's one thing to expose an elected politician's support of apartheid or another's collusion on trading arms with rogue nations; it's something else entirely to blame an actress for the slaughter of racoons. None of the women cited participated in the killing of the animals nor is there any proof that any of them are even aware of the practices which this video illustrates.

What seems to upset many of those who have commented on this article is not the insensitivity of wearing fur, but the vanity and excess of those who choose to do so. I live in Asia where it is not uncommon to eat animals that were slaughtered at the table - sometimes by the diners themselves. To some this is the height of barbarism, to others it is the essence of the nature of man: the hunter-gatherer only killing for sustenance. In some regions it is a delicacy to eat live octopus. Are the grown men who do so on a par with Nicole Ritchie? She might not think so, but it is clear that many people believe that as an "idiot" she has no capacity for rational thought.

If educating people is PETA's objective, then they need to continue to highlight the atrocities of the fur trade and distance themselves from the superficiality of people who will be forgotten before days end.

Tomcat,

As a hunter I would presume that the vast majority of the animals you see up close are dead or writhing in pain from being stuck in a trap so how on earth would you know if they have feeling or not.

I care for wildlife and I know for a fact that every animal I have seen has it's own personality. They all react differently to different situations and all of them are effected by stress and in fact can die from stress a lot more than people. I also have domestic animals and they are the same. If they had no feelings then how do you explain this.

Posted by: Sonia | December 7, 2006 02:11 AM

Before i watched this video i didnt have a strong opinion on fur, yes i wouldnt choose to wear it myself but i didn't necessarily condem someone for wearing it... its funny how one little vidoe can change your views. i was completley appalled to watch that video. i dont see how anyone can watch something like that without it breaking their heart never mind do it. i have been told that animals were skinned alive but i never realised how gut wrentching it is. call me naive but i am just finding it hard to grasp how someone can do that to a such a beautiful LIVING creature. It just goes to show that there are people out there who are low enough and evil enough to put a defencless animal through a life not worth living and a death too agonising, all to make a pretty penny

Posted by: susan | December 7, 2006 02:01 PM

How could anyone wear fur after seeing this sick video. I think the comments toward fur wearers is meant to hit home and it does. I will look at someone wearing fur in disgust for the rest of my life AND maybe hand them a PETA.org business card if I had one.

Why does this country have SO much empathy for a 'disorder' thats a far cry from a real disorder? Calling Anorexia nervosa and bullimia disorders insults the plight of those who suffer under conditions they cannot avoid. Its disgusting and ignorant. Its first of all, a developed country disorder, you don't see people in India putting fingers down their throat to be skinny. Why exactly DO they deserve our sympathy? Because they are stupid enough to think imaginary and odd things? Shouldnt we be teaching our children to be strong enough to fight against the current of Nicole Richie and the likes instead of 'sympathizing' with 'victims' of the eating disorder. They are not suffering, they are choosing to suffer, you dont see everyone sympathizing with masochists do you? So, why is this different. They know very well what they are doing to themselves. Just because something happens to increase in trend doesnt mean its societys fault as a whole. The individual falling under the pressure is to blame too. Why dont kids who grow up eating health food and without drugs deserve an applause then. If you turn out okay, its unrecognized, but if you start hurting yourself suddenly you are deserving of all the sympathy in the world. It really makes me support PETA's mockery of them, clearly they strive for it.

Poverty and malnutrition are conditions, not disorders.

And this is about wearing fur, not anorexia, bulimia, or famous people.

Or perhaps, Cinnabon, you can't tell the difference?

Unbelievable. I can't understand why this still happens. I could only watch the first 10 seconds. Why didn't anyone step up and stop it.
Before I saw the video I thought PETA's comments were a little harsh, but now I think they are 100% justified.

Posted by: ancelin | December 8, 2006 05:56 PM

go peta for telling it like it is. people who wear fur should walk in shame. i hope one day people wake up and finally see what is really going on with the fur they wear.

Posted by: debera | December 8, 2006 06:01 PM

I honestly think that what PETA said about the celebrities is amusing, but if you want to get your point across, you shouldn't point out a person’s flaws, disorders, or problems. You should put the spotlight on their ignorance and poor choice of “fashion.” I, myself think that wearing fur is tacky and I would never wear it.
And people should really stop wishing bad things on the people who skin the animals.
Yes, I don’t agree with what they are doing either, but if there wasn’t such a high demand for fur, then people wouldn’t have to have jobs doing these types of things. If it’s not these people killing the animals, its gonna be some other person. Yes it is their fault, but you can’t blame them for trying to make a living. Do you think that if they could make more money doing something else, they would choose to do this instead? By saying that, I’m not trying to say that wearing fur is right nor am I saying it is right for a person to do such a horrible thing to a living creature, but you have to realize that people need to do what they can to get paid. In some cases, these people skinning the animals choose to, but sometimes, there just isn’t any other option. So everybody in the fur industry is at fault, but if anything, blame the fur wearers. I think that there needs to be more organizations like PETA to educate people on what happened to the poor animal whose fur they are wearing.

Posted by: Shorty | December 8, 2006 06:51 PM

I could only watch two seconds of the video; it's too sad for me. Certainly we have advanced to a point in civilization where we no longer need animal fur to stay warm. We are no longer cave men! No matter what anyone says, some people will still choose to wear fur, and eat meat, and I guess that is their perogative. Why do the animals have to beaten and skinned alive to do it? There must be some more humane way of getting what we need from the animals. This is just sick, sick I say.

Posted by: Sad | December 8, 2006 07:05 PM

To PETA; personal attacks are downright wrong and should not be used in persuading people to accept certain opinions. Eating disorders are very serious and should be taken that way. Making fun of the size of Ricci's forehead or Longoria's role in her show is totally uncalled for and immature. Are we in high school again? These women are not cruel, horrible people for wearing fur, they are simply ignorant to the facts. These comments about them are very disrespectful.

I support animal rights, but i'm not very fond of peta and its use of propaganda and such language. The fight for not only animal rights, but for any political stance in history is riddled with these kinds of extremists attempting to distort the truth and give people a biased viewpoint. enlighten us, dont lie to us.

Despite what some people have said, animals are not legal posessions. everything that is born has its own right to life. we do not choose to be born as whatever we want, and to take advantage of other species is wrong simply because we are more intelligent. And because we are, we have to go even further as to protect other living things. There is no arguing against this. The only reason why animals are killed today for fur or food the way they are today is efficiency. They need to make as much product as they can to generate the most profit. spending time and money to slowly kill every animal before skinning is time consuming and wasteful. Big businesses do not relate God or grief and sympathy for animals when there is money to be made. it is sad, but thats the way the world is. All you can do is not support it. I doubt it will ever stop.

Posted by: Doanh | December 8, 2006 07:18 PM

Disgusting and despicable the people here posting comments about Peta lightening up. Why are you here in the first place at the site of an organization which promotes the ethical treatment of animals? You must have pent up guilt for consuming animal flesh and wearing the fur of tortured animals. I'm suprised that every one of these comments wasnt't riddled with disgust and disbelief. Peta is trying to reach a goal and these celebrities in the pictures wearing those furs are part of the problem. That's quite apparent. "My God" didn't create beautiful creatures just for human use and consumption, In fact, my God didn't even create humans, we evolved from other species of ANIMAL to what we are today (still a form of animal). I'm entirely befuddled as to the lack of sympthany and empathy shown from some of the people commenting here in response to the video. Like Peta says concerning animals: they aren't for us, they aren't ours or anyone's for that matter, they are their own entity and have their own intrinsic value. People obviously need to see these things to know whats going on and those who promote excessive cruelty to animals need to be shamed, Good Job!

Why dont these celebs just wear peta approved fur! I have a coat from ralph lauren with peta approved fur trim! These ladies are very selfish you can tell by their lifestyle!

Posted by: Victoria Beltran | December 9, 2006 01:11 AM

can't they wear fur or skin from animals that we actually eat? like sheeps, cows or pigs? works as a multi-player. =D. the worst thing of the video is that those cursed-by-animals-people did not kill the animals first and then skin them. hurts me to see them suffer. (saying this doesn't mean i approve wearing fur) they freakin pulled the raccoon's fur like a shirt. in the first place whats with a fur coat? i mean there's lots n lots of other materials we can use from. we're not living in antartica that we need really thick clothes in the first place. i guess people have to much money that they don't know what to spend on. =)

Posted by: diana | December 9, 2006 08:15 AM

will everyone shut the hell up about PETA making comments on the underweight issues here on these celebrities. THE ISSUE HERE IS the fact that THESE "CELEBRITIES" are supporting the video that you just saw. What the hell is wrong with you people, look what more important issues we need to deal with. For everyone who believes that the world does not have any issues fur wise, can all go to hell if you don't give a shit. These celebrities should know better and be a positive role model for everyone....PERIOD

A little bullying from PETA isnt going to stop them. Its abit childish I think. I still like PETA, but all this 'Worst Dressed' stuff is abit gayy..

all the slashing on celebrities wearing fur is childish. you would think that a group trying to get the public aware of the cruelties happening in the world would not only act professional about the situation but also be the bigger person in this.

Posted by: anne | December 10, 2006 12:26 AM

Hi first off, to all of the ignorant people that are posting messages saying that PETA advocates need to get a life...you need to get a life! Why are you wasting your time writing on here anyway? Dont you have better things to do than talk crap over the computer? I want to see you do that in front of our faces and we'll see how far you get, and while you are at it go and get some education because your statements are ignorant and pathetic just as yourselves. Second of all I am a psychology major and I am specializing in eating disorders, and as these disorders are very serious, they are sistonic disorders, meaning that these people know they are sick and they refuse to get better, thats why they are so hard to treat. So there is no basis to say that these comments are going to really affect them and have them fall deeper into their emotional (not necessarily psychological, by the way) disorder. They are doing this to themselves, so in other words I believe that it is perfectly fine for PETA to talk crap on these celebrities who must be cold-hearted or just plain and simple ignorant to the fact that these poor creatures are brutally tortured to get THEIR precious fur. And to the people that believe animals dont have personalities...god you are so ignorant, go and do some animal behavior research and then come back. I am also a premed student and most of the biological knowledge we know about humans is based on animals. Animal behavior is one of the main ways we study human behavior because they are so much like us. And no God did not put animals on this planet for us to eat! Come on now are you serious! We are animals! We can be wipped out at any time just like the dinosaurs, and considering how we have been treating this planet and the creatures WE SHARE this planet with, I wouldn't doubt that our time is coming soon! However, back to what it important is that these poor, defensless creatures need our help to survive and go through life the way they were meant to...without us getting in the their way all of the time! We need to learn to leave animals the f*** alone! To skin an animal alive to make money by selling it to SICK people is definitely NOT one of the reasons why WE were put on earth! This is disguisting and shameful and after watching this video ( 2 seconds of it anyway because it was too difficult for me to watch) has actually made me feel ashamed of being a human. I will do whatever it takes for me to help PETA in stopping this masacre of precious life.

if peta would try and solely do there job instead of protesting and throwing red paint on people and buberry stores, they could get work done ANIMALS ARE INFERIOR TO PEOPLE... THEY WERE PUT ON EARTH FOR HUMAN USE! now by no means am i saying torture them or skin the alive (kill them then skin them) and quick question do you think people like paris hilton and nicole richie are getting their furs from chinese no-name fur people? seriously the coats the get are probably treated better than that... i want to see burberry workers getting their fur like that

Posted by: Austin | December 10, 2006 04:20 PM

Austin,

Who is it that says that animals were put on this earth for human use? So many people here have already stated that this is just what people that believe in a certain god say to justify the use of animals. Even the bible can be interpreted differently, all depends on your prospective on life.

Regardless if these animals have souls or not they feel pain the same as humans, they may not scream out in pain as they are prey animals and will be found by a predator if they make a huge fuss when injured. All animals have different ways of showing pain, ie a kangaroo will scratch the affected area. Can you imagine yourself being smacked on the ground and then becoming conscious only to find that half your skin has been peeled off, can you imagine the pain the animal would feel. Could you imagine it happening to the person next to you and having to watch this happen only to know that you are next.

From what I could see that person in the video (which I'm still having nightmares from watching even though I know that these things happen) this person wasn't in rags and the car he had wasn't an old banger, he wasn't a poor peasent trying desperately to put food on the table and even if he was he didn't have to find the whole thing entertaining.

This world has gone to s**t and the only reason for this is because there are humans on it.

Posted by: Sonia | December 10, 2006 08:45 PM

I totally agree with Diana. These women stars are ones that the media is splashing across everything. If you're going to flaunt yourself in public wearing fur, then you're sending out the message that you support killing of creatures for fur. And PETA, in doing their job, is just highlighting the acts of these women. So if you don't like what you see, well, blame it on your favourite female stars. They don't look so hot anymore do they?

Posted by: Clare | December 11, 2006 03:21 AM

I've taken my Christina Ricci fanpage offline because of this, so now the second link on Google (when searching for "Christina Ricci") shows "Offline due to fur usage" and links to peta2.

Posted by: Dodger | December 11, 2006 03:25 PM

Reading everyones comments has very mixed reations.

To Pauls comment:
I agree this video shows horrible footage, but if we hide ourselves from the truth how can we solve anything? This is to show everyone what it is really like. You don't have to watch the video.

Whoever wrote the article is personally attacking the celebrities for other things other than fur, which is unacceptable and irrelevent. That is not PETA's fault, but the idiot who wrote this list.

I still fully support PETA, and will continue to be a member to stop animal cruelty.

Posted by: Estelle Rose | December 11, 2006 05:45 PM

Making commments about celebs and so called "mocking" them or "attacking them behind thier backs", doesn't even come close to the way many animals are being attacked right now! The point of this message, is obviously not to wear fur. If u want to wear fur, then you must face the consequences that come with it. Even if it means being abused by those who stand up for animals and thier rights! Good job peta!.

A friend once wore a rabbit coat and I was disgusted... she said shes not supporting the industry cause it was bought from a charity shop .. its a good point .. but then I thought... a charity shop ... do they not have such things as animal charity? INSANE!!! Please.. that video is painful ... a kid come accross that and be scarred.. I wasn't prepared and my family were in the room! NOt nice!

Posted by: Sarah | December 12, 2006 06:30 AM

Hank I hope you die, and find out that God is a Chinchilla, who will be laughing at you as you get sodomized by Satan. Are you on crack or what man, you're a fucking dumbass who deserves to be roasted on a spit and fed to the homeless. You think that if there was a god he would condone skinning, fuck you mate, fuck you up your sorry ass.

Posted by: barius | December 12, 2006 12:06 PM

oh jeez

why are we bashing peta for using propaganda? because its wrong. I support animal rights, but I dont need to follow this extremist organization to do so; but its fine if people do because its my own opinion. No, Peta advocates dont need to 'get a life' and I never said that. I dont know any of you personally and I dont appreciate being critized by someone I dont know. I know how wrong using animals are, and contrary to what you accused me of without even knowing me, I feel no guilt at all. I dont have any fur coats and I'm a vegan. Get your facts right before you try and get all self righteous with a total stranger.

Nobody cares about how much the video tugged your heartstrings or made you cry. bullshit. take your emofaces somewhere else and grow up. Lets post something legitimate and relevant.

You people are taking this shit too much to heart. It's not like these celebrities went out, poached animals and skinned them on their own. they had money and bought them. Being ignorant is not a crime. It's wrong to throw blood on people and prejudge them and accuse them of being horrible people when the only crime they've commited is the one of ignorance. Promoting what peta promotes fights this ignorance. Dont be an asshole and take everything personally. By naming these people 'cruel' or shameful', you're doing the same thing they are. you're trying to force your opinion upon someone else. Keep it to yourself.

Upon seeing the video, I felt sympathy like any person, but I didnt feel such wretched disgust that you describe. Stuff like this happens everyday. Are you living under a rock? You think fur coats grow on the fur trees? grow up.

So dont go and try to give me a lesson on animal rights, "brittany." Way to go trying to elevate yourself by degrading someone over the internet.

Posted by: Doanh | December 12, 2006 07:46 PM

Wow. Just wow. This is ridiculous. Well, the video is ridiculous but so are half the people talking on here ! I know we all have a right to our own opinions but I've read through most of the comments and seen things like : 'Animals have no feelings.' 'God put animals on earth to serve humans.'
Really, I mean, we as humans EVOLVE. Ever think that maybe this is a part of evolution ? Maybe being kind to others ? We're trying to be nicer to other people so why can't we just go a step further ?

Posted by: Alex | December 12, 2006 10:51 PM

WELL DONE PETA,
This is wrong, the publicists that promote these fur wearing celebrities should realise their promoting murder.(Though) they are not killing the animals with their own hands, instead they are paying someone to oppress the cruel misery of these animals. Murder is not fashion!!! I am 15 so call me naive if you can but how can anyone be happy or feel good wearing an innocent animals skin, knowing the suffering behind their clothes. These people are idolised as fashion icons they influence others, thats why they have been choosen by peta. We should be taught the real value of fashion and life.

Posted by: Tiffany | December 15, 2006 11:14 AM

I felt so sorry for that poor dog... but on the other hand I think fur looks hot on a chick. Alot of fur goes to waste though, like when tiger or lion dies at the zoo they should use its fur for clothes. Recycle, means less dogs get skinned.

Posted by: Mr. SMith | December 17, 2006 03:31 AM

I couldn't even watch the whole video, seeing that poor creature moving around trying to escape as they slowly cut off its fur was just too much, if people like Nicole and J Lo (who just realeased a line of fur clothes) saw that video i wonder if they would be able to justify their wearing fur...

...and by the way Barius, no its not like those celebrities went out and skinned those animals but by supporting the fur trade they are insuring the cruelty goes on, and you as a person who supports animals rights should understand, people know "fur coats" dont grow on "fur trees", however people dont see an animal skinned alive every day of the week, and frankly anyone who doesn't get upset, deeply disturbed, and even angry, when they see such things taking place has some serious issues...

Posted by: Cliona | December 17, 2006 03:20 PM

I just dont know how thoes people can live with there self.

Posted by: Carlee Papp | December 17, 2006 05:02 PM

I believe that any person who would wear fur that an animal posses should be skinned the same way the animals fur was removed from him/her. Because I know you did not ask the animals permission for their fur, if you did then you would know the answer is "NO YOU MAY NOT TAKE MY FUR THAT GOD GAVE TO ME TO KEEP ME WARM, NOR MAY YOU HARM ME".

Posted by: Vicki | December 19, 2006 09:59 AM

While some people might call PETA "extremist", if it weren't for them getting this video out, the lot of us would be oblivious and ignorant to what really goes on cocerning the fur trade. And lets not lose sight of the big picture here. The bottom line is: animals are being unecessarily slaughtered (cruelly) for something that mankind doesn't need. In this day and age, fur is just for fashion and luxury. As humans, we have a choice to not engage in this barbaric cruelty we inflict on other beings. Never mind if it's "just an animal" like some people quote. What about just respecting life in general?

Say NO to fur!

Posted by: Jenna | December 20, 2006 06:49 PM

I completely agree with "Shorty".. it's true that the whole process in itself of making and manufacturing fur is extremely wrong however at the end of the night the fact is that if there were no people out there actually buying and wearing fur.. there would be no people in China skinning animals alive in order to supply for these people who think they are making some sort of fashion statement by wearing dead animals on their back.

Posted by: Christine | December 21, 2006 03:23 AM

So where is Mary J. Blige? I can't ever remember seeing a photo of her when she isn't wearing fur or head to toe leather. She is by far the worst offender.

Posted by: Carla | December 21, 2006 11:30 AM

Most of you don't kno wat ur on about, Fur in no cases is right, its murder, and it should be illegal, telling this disgusting women that its wrong by using abusive and bullying language is the only way to stop them, look at christina ricci she has stopt because peta talked out to her, fur is a disgusting thing tht dosent even look nice on human beigs, and for nicole richie and ashley olsen, they havnt got eatin disorders, they just do it for attention because theyre losing fame, same as for wearing fur, they have so much money they run out of stuff to buy so they buy fur. anyone for fur is obviously stupid, and knows nothing about it

Posted by: louie | December 22, 2006 09:46 AM

People that wear fur are fine..The animals are already dead..Please just because you can not afford it do not hate..APPRICIATE

Posted by: Jakie | December 22, 2006 05:59 PM

I can't believe that! I always thought all of them did it humanly! I mean beating them and doing while their alive, IMAGINE if someone did it to you. Although I am a HUGE fan of fur. The only fur I bought was fake, number 1 its too expensive and 2 it's cruel! Why can't we be like Indians and use sparingly and EVERY part of the animal, I'd be OK with wearing fur then.

Posted by: Taylor | December 23, 2006 02:28 AM

Celebrities ARE not cold hearted they just don't know. Besides not like the designer brands do that the fur would be disgusting and if anyone found out no one, EVEN celebs would buy their clothes!

Posted by: Taylor | December 23, 2006 02:34 AM

ok "jakie" first of all, before you go around leaving comments, learn how to spell.. now if you absolutely must comment then atleast make sure its something relevant and not just a bullshit sentence proving that you are a materialistic ass hole. it's really sad that there are people who actually think like you do and don't see anything wrong with wearing fur. "the animals are already dead".. well they were very much ALIVE when they were being skinned!! did you even watch the video? i hope not, because if you did watch it and can still say those things.. then wow.. i feel sorry for you.. there must be something missing in your life.. please work on it

Posted by: christine | December 23, 2006 03:53 AM

First of all without becoming to personal Louie entry on 22nd 06 your comment made me laugh. Does the word Tosser mean anything to you ?

We are just about to enter 2007 and us humans are becoming more modern and knowledgeble and evolving every day. I am positiv that one day the fur trade will ( hopefully soon ) become extinct. Just like some of the species of animals that almost became extinct due to fur trade. In the world we live in there are so many problems to tackle such as starving children, war and catastrophes which are by far probably more difficult to solve then the fur trade. I would like to congratulate all the people that devote their time to PETA and make it work. Some of the tactics might seem extreme to others but if you cry out and no one hears you you have to shout out louder.

At the end of the day it seems very simple to me. No human being should have the right to torture and make animals suffer just because they wish to aquire a certain luxury product which is nowdays so easily replaced by something such as a fake fur coat etc.

Lets try and make this world a better place by starting to get rid of the stupid fur trade and devoting our time to other issues.

We need to protect the world we live in not the other way round!

GENESIS 1:28: "...God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'"

all you peta freaks are godless liberals. it is perfectly acceptable to use an animal for its fur. it is not sadistic.

Posted by: selena | December 23, 2006 01:16 PM

Genesis 1:29 ... " then God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.' "

Genensis 1:30 ..." 'And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures taht move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it- I give every green plant for food' "

Selena.. there is nothing in either one of those quotes that says we can torture animals for their fur..

Posted by: Christine | December 30, 2006 04:57 PM

With certain comments I read... I think it's easy to confuse Morality with Religion. I also think some quotes/passages can be misread such as "Man has dominion over animals", since Man has dominion, I regard this as Man to carry on God's work, Not to exploit/destroy it.

However In the Old days, paganism and Druids sacrificed animals in ceremonies in a way today which would be classed as butchery, although they didn't go beyond there religious beliefs/bounderies.

Every religion has there own views on God. Some religions (Pagan,Druidary & Taoism) view nature and all life are in someway interconnected. Their philosophies are that Nature & Life are just as important as God and should be respected as such!

I feel morality is a belief in knowing what you think is right or wrong. People may agree/disagree but I think Morality is defined by person's character/action and thoughts.

While I don't believe in the use/wearing of fur, I do believe however that nature should be respected and all life have the right to live.

If man was to decide all the time what should live and die, I believe this would make God redundant.

Anyone who left a comment saying it was okay to use animals for their fur obviously did NOT see the video

as far as God giving us animals for fur and to control and all that...
YOUR unbelievably Ignorant

One of the gifts god gave to us was the gift of wisdom, which gives us the capability to create things, like faux fur......

If anyone can seriously watch the video, and still say that those animals
were put on this earth for that shouldn't call themselves a christian.

The attacks against celebrities with eating disorders were low, and uncalled for... end of question.

and the comment saying that vegetarians were just "jealous" of people that can eat meat and stay thin was completely moronic!
there are alot of reasons people become vegetarians and although health is usually a factor, it's not beacause we can't be thin and still eat meat!

perhaps that person was just jealous of the will power vegetarians have that they obviously do not possess

I agree with what most people have said, that wearing fur is a persons decision and we should respect that. But, beating an animal and torturing it to death is ludacris. It makes me so furious that this happens, and through this video I was completley disgusted, and I fear for those poor helpless creatures. I had to stop watching the video after a few seconds because it was too much. Although, there are some more pressing matters in the world concerning humans that we should direct more attention to first.Sorry, but people do come first.
And for all the people saying that those who where fur should be skinned themselves, yes what they're doing is bad, but to say you wish that on someone else is just as horrible.

Posted by: Thelia | January 3, 2007 05:10 AM

In as comment made by Estelle Rose in response to a previous one of mine...

I can ensure you my comment wasn't a personal attack of celebrities. Although I oppose the use/wearing of Fur I believe it's down to choice of individual & moral and ethical beliefs.

In this list I've seen a lot of religious quotes, which I think is fine but quoutes have a tendency to misread/misinterpretted.

People try to understand God through religion (which I have no problem with). But I feel God and Devil are closer to home through actions we do and words we say.

I apologise if it seemed offensive, but it was intended to.

In response to a comment... made by Tomcat ( Posted by Sonia)

OK , I feel quite offended for you to say huntsmen have respect for animals. My dad use to Hunt, and I can assure you that almost every huntsmen I've met has little or no respect for animals. So stop with the bulls**t.

Also to say animals don't feel pain. How the f**k would you know, your not one!! Just because animals don't understand us, doesn't mean they don't understand pain and fear. If animals are capable of showing love and compassion like your domestic pets then they are more than capable of knowing fear.

Hunters nowadays hunt for sport, not for survival. We live a world abundant with resources, and now we are no longer dependant on animals the way we use to in the early stages of man. Anyone that say's animals are ours for human use is talking bulls**t.

The only reason people write stuff like that is so they can justify what there doing even though it's wrong and they can sleep better at night knowing the fact they've taken something that wasn't theirs to take.

I think this double a case of standards, you can treat your house pets one way, but animals in the wild another.

Posted by: PcB | January 4, 2007 05:17 AM

Yeah, this is really sad, but face it guys! People are going to wear fur. It's just a normal/everyday thing. Hopefully someday people will grow up and just realize that it's wrong. I mean, you can wear something else and still look great! You don't have to wear animals. It's wrong. I'm for PETA all the way.

Posted by: Karlee | January 4, 2007 04:27 PM

Um, do PETA members approve of eating animals like chicken? Just wondering because i hate when people wear fur, i even hate it when they wear faux fur

Posted by: Joanne | January 5, 2007 02:20 AM

You'd have to be inhuman not to feel repulsed by the barbaric acts of cruelty in the video clip. However, I hope such incidents are rare, and that a regulated industry would adopt the most humane methods of practice. I understand the use of Argon in the poultry industry has been found to be the option which led to the least suffering. The use of leather in clothing is common, achieving the most optimal use of the cow, providing food as well as clothing. Whilst it may not be perfect, I see regulation as the most effective way of avoiding such excessive cruelty. Whilst I prefer to avoid the use of animal products in my life, I accept the realities of the world and hope people agree with me in having respect for nature, and the mechanisms of ecology in the world.

Posted by: Lionel | January 5, 2007 09:15 AM

I see from this blog that PETA have decided only to include the comments about how celebs are killing animals and have chosen not to include my previous comments about PETA being completely irresponsible by putting a video like that where innocent kids and myself can stumble upon this - I dont have any fur and dont really agree with it so what right do PETA have to offend me with such horric images?

I care about animals, but suddenly I have no respect for PETA whatsoever.

Posted by: Martin | January 5, 2007 12:33 PM

I am absolutely stunned and apalled by the video I just watch. I stopped watching after he stripped the animal of its fur while it was STILL ALIVE. That was one of the most heart breaking and horrifying things I have ever seen. I will never purchase or associate with anyone who wears fur. That video brought me to tears and I think that any one who can wear fur after watching such a video is as inhumane as the people who are killing and abusing animals for their fur.

Posted by: shanelle | January 5, 2007 02:41 PM

God you PETA people are zany.

Posted by: Jeff Johnson | January 5, 2007 07:24 PM

That video is sickening, everyone knows that people kill these animals inhumanely to skin them but not many people really know how. Its definitely a wake-up call.

And when it comes to bagging out these celebs, bear in mind that they do that all the time in gossip magazines and not only do people not complain about the fact that they are bagging out those celebs fashion sense but they actually pay to read it. If you guys dont find PETA's statement about Christina Ricci's forehead funny, then ignore it, everyone else does.

Sure there's other inhumane things going on in the world against humans but leaving comments on THIS site that they should be taking care of them is pointless - there aren't many people who go out of their way to maintain the rights of animals so why would you tell one of the rare organisations to put away their cause fight another cause and then work on their cause again after that one is solved? Fur is wrong, everyone knows it, just let people have their opinions about it I guess.

Posted by: jodie | January 6, 2007 04:18 AM

I support animal rights, but it's groups like you that make me mad. PETA, you're not fighting for the rights of animals, you're not speaking up against animal cruelty, and you're not making a difference. You're just a bunch of whiny hipsters who do things that are completely inappropriate, immature, and illegal in an attempt to get your point across. If you're going to crusade against animal rights, I'd suggest refraining from comparing animal cruelty to the the enslavement of blacks and the Holocaust and telling children that their fur-wearing mothers are murderers, among others. You're hurting the cause more than you're helping it.

Posted by: Emily | January 6, 2007 11:25 AM

I would like to know how many of you own LEATHER? Same diff geniuses...

Posted by: Canadian girl | January 7, 2007 06:45 PM

In response to Emily....

I think animals are entitled to certain rights just as we do. I would have to agree that comparisons to enslavement of blacks and Holocaust is unnecessary and wrong, but I think animals and humans share one important right. right to live and live freely.

Animals don't get taken seriously because we don't understand them, that doesn't however make them any less worthy of living. I've always believed if animals could talk, half the sh*t that goes on with animals( fur trade) would not be happening.

Posted by: Paul | January 8, 2007 08:02 AM

I agree with Paul, that video is needless gore. I get the point..wearing fur is bad, but I feel worse off after watching it. We all know killing anything would look disgusting I guess it was morbid curiosity that made me push play but it was pure disgust at PETA that made me push stop. try something other than shock tactics to get through to people, its only reflects poorly on PETA
